Default Displaying Models

When displaying models do I have to worry about natural sunlight? What I am trying to say is will the paint fade?
Thanks

G'day,

The simple answer is yes... the UV rays in sunlight will fade colors on models. I get around that problem by fitting black cloth 'holland' Blinds to the front of my display cases. When I want to show the models off (usually in the evening or when friends are around) I simply pull up the blinds. At all other times the blinds are pulled down.

Cheers Lou

I kept a Gemini Jets 1:400 scale 727 model outside for an entire year as an experiment. It got frozen, rained on covered with snow and burned in the sun. What I found was that the basic paint was not noticeably changed but the tampo printed details faded somewhat. Given that the room in which I display the models (on shelves, no glass) doesn't get much direct sunlight, I am confident the lifespan of the models will exceed my own lifespan which is good enough.
