Andrew, thank you for the Piedmont 737-300's. It's good to know someone is still producing quality models for those who collect liveries from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Hoping for some of the bare metal Piedmonts in subsequent releases. You are our only hope for more awesome deregulation carriers, which there are many many more to be done. Thanks!
Hear, hear! Thank you, Andrew. I've already ordered two Piedmonts and a USAir. I too hope to see some of the bare metal Piedmonts. I, too, collect first and foremost 70's, 80s, and 90's liveries, and love early-Deregulation schemes from my teen years.

...and *all four* Piedmonts were already gone at Waffle by the time I tried to order, a little over an hour after they went on sale! I had to order from another seller.
Think maybe there's some pent-up demand for 80's USA Deregulation models out there?

Adding my kudos to Mr. Klein for this month's releases.
The Piedmonts were nice, but what got me really pumped was that Northwest Orient thermometer 720! Andrew that must be what you felt would "fill the gaping hole in my fine collection"?
I bought the US Air 737-300 as well - I have the Aeroclassics 737-200 in that scheme and love it.
Well done!
I'll second the comment that there is pent up demand for classics.
I was lucky enough to get all 4 from waffle, I'm sure he'll get more. I'd imagine any bare metals would sell well also. Would love to see more Emery's on the AC 727-100 mold, as well as Frontier Horizon, Air Niagara, Trump, MGM Grand, McClain, Key Air, Air Atlanta, American International Airways, etc..

Stop it! You're getting me all excited!
I collect (as many of you probably do) civil aviation books as well, and a quick flip through ANY of the good ones will show you TONS of schemes like you've mentioned that I'd buy in a heartbeat!
Frontier Horizon?!? My poor ticker if that's announced!

The Frontier Horizon would be my personal Holy Grail!
Just got a pre-order in for two of the Piedmont 737-300s and four USAir 737-300s. I'm ecstatic that the USAir 737-300 in 1990s colors has FINALLY been done in 1:400! Been waiting for this one for over a decade! Here's hoping that AC does the PI/US 737-300 bare metal hybrids too!

I would be all over 80's Deregulation startups/ regionals. Also add Best Airlines DC-9-10, Britt Airways BAC-111 or Metro, Pride Air 727-200, Altair Airlines F-28, Empire Airlines F-28, Air Florida all three types (I'd replace my Gemini DC-10 and 737 in a heartbeat, and 727-200 hasn't been done by anyone), Ransome Dash 7, and many more!
For local-service 'grow-ups' or trunk carriers, some that haven't been done: Republic 727-200 and any DC-9 in Mary Tyler Moore colors; Continental 727-200 People Express hybrid and merger schemes (red meatball with big titles); AirCal MD-80; AirCal 737-300 with 'American' titles.

Steve, it was the NWO 720 in mind when the remark was made; I'm glad I was correct in my assumptions!!

And a beauty she is, Andrew! Even the antenna was perfectly straight! A very welcome addition to my Northwest fleet! Why oh why didn't Gemini do this scheme in 1:400 on their 757-200? I have their 1:200 version. I was shocked to see what looks like a dented engine intake in this photo - it wasn't - I picked off some sort of black goop and bingo - engine is just fine and ready to serve.
And this arrival too! Most welcome, Andrew!
And she is with some friends...

Great additions, Steve!! I can hardly wait for my USAir, Piedmont, and Tanzania 737's to arrive! I too would love to see a Northwest Orient thermometer-colors 757. And a Republic 757, too.

That USAir 737-300 is looking good! Can't wait to get my Piedmonts and USAirs. The USAir 737-300 has been a gaping hole in my USAir '90s collection for so long, so I'm very happy to finally be able to fill it. Just need to keep my fingers crossed that we'll eventually see a 757-200 and at least the F-28-1000 (if not the -4000 too)! I would love to see a USAir F-28 on that AC mold!

If it wasn't for mt8667, I would've missed these pre-sale Piedmonts. And quite honestly, I didn't even realize these models were being released until mt8667 posted this thread.
Anyway, I purchased all four "Speedbirds" from Kam at eztoys and they are my first -300 models. Aeroclassics produced a great and long awaited model. Thanks.
P.S. You'll have to walk inside the hanger to get a side view of the other two.

Here are my first two Piedmonts, and my USAir. All really beautiful models. The first PI is in its home in my Rochester section. The second PI and the US are in my two holding / overflow areas. Both of them will go into the 80's section, probably once I reconfigure to make room, around Christmas break.

Great close up shots of your Piedmonts and USAir Jim. Hopefully, you'll get your second PI and USAir into revenue service soon. You got Christmas season passengers and the volatile '80s to deal with.

It appears my N312P is misprinted "Asheville" instead of "New York". N325P is correctly printed "Asheville". If you decide to check yours, it's probably not a recommended exercise for those with eyes over 40. You have been warned.
Still great looking models though. Now for those F.28s...

And of course that's the one I chose to purchase after much deliberation!
I might just keep the order because it is barely legible anyway as you stated, but I still have time to change it to N334P "Seattle" if I choose to. Hopefully that one is done correctly.

Are those displays all temporary or do you have a giant room filled with them all (which would be sweet!)
Thanks Steve! They are permanent. The two cases in the first picture represent 20 international carriers. The case to the left was completed in '05. When I moved to my current home in '08, I set it up again and in '09, I finished the one to the right. Both are near the stairwell.
The second and third picture show the two cases that house 20 U.S. domestic carriers. They are located in my study and as you can see, I'm still working on the one in the third picture. It's been fun putting them together.

Awesome - can you post a close up of that Continental section sometime?
What a cool idea for displaying models.
I thought about making little labels for each of mine, like insect specimens, but haven't done it yet.

Backing the models are some basic aspects of the cultural region in which these airlines served. But, in doing 20 domestics, it can be difficult to come up with ideas because many overlap each other. For Continental, I sought ideas from their early days with some representation of Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.

I have a few tubes of left over Gemini Jets 1:400/1:200 matting that may be useful to you. You can cut the size to fit each self or cut the size to fit each airline. Cutting the size to fit each airline will add definition to the look. The key to this is the use of gator board. Each cut mat should be cold mounted to gator board by your local printing shop or possibly a framing shop if they cold mount.
No cost for the matting. I will also mail the tube to you free of charge.
