(Maybe this version will be more clear. Think of it as the 'interpretive statement' we see on bond issues on election day.)

My question is, why doesn't Gemini Jets or Dragon Wings make on-demand models? British Airways models are getting old, and so are Braniff. Come on, where are the MD-80's from Dragon with U.S. airline liveries? Where is Gemini with their A340's? I personally think that they should consider more customer requests and ideas. Were are the U.S. airlines? What do you think?

We need UPS models, the 757, DC-8 and MD-11, please!

My Opinion:
I think these manufacturers are saving it up-not blowing their load all at once. Imagine if they brought in the space of 2 months 75% of the BA Landor fleet-the surprise and anticipation would be shot. I do not always agree on these drawn out releases but the piece by piece method I suppose is a marketing strategy and nothing else.
As for the MD80's-there are not that may operating in Australia-none at the moment but as I have asked once and will ask again -

WHAT ABOUT COMPASS MD-80/81????

I feel for you US counterparts but at least you've got some variety!!

There is absolutely no excuse to not make the MD-80's that everyone has been yelling for. This is an outstanding model that is horribly underutilized. For example, looking at only the North American liveries yet to be done (notwitstanding the rest of the globe) - Alaskan, Continental, Delta, Frontier . . . these airlines have already been released on other airframes by DW, what is the holdup with the poor little MD? Further to those above, add AirTran, Midway, JetsGo, you name it . . .

DW doesn't only make wings model they also make a lot of action figures and etc etc ......especially they are concentrating to thier new line of products like the 1:72 warbirds and the Can.do so i think DW is slow to thier wing products

This is only my theory .......

The Gemini A340 would involve the costly task of preparing a new mould. Now why would they do that when for just a few bucks they can throw some decals on an existing mould, make it a BA Lador or World Tail and be GUARANTEED to sell-out!

It's all about greed.

Edward, our young friend, you're rather new to this hobby and as such, there are things you may not be aware of:

1) GJ models are tampo printed, not decaled.

2) Gemini Jets is a privately held company. That means there are no public investors to please or be responsible to.

3) Gemini has said in times past that they will release what they want when they want. This statement was made about two years ago when GJ and DW were both releasing the same models. It was in response to several collector's complaints that GJ was copying DW releases.

4) New mould are expensive to produce - very expensive. No manufacturer is going to sink a lot of money into a mould unless there is a reasonable chance of recouping their design and manufacturing costs plus an acceptable profit. This is true of all the manufacturers, not just GJ.

5) With #4 above in mind, it is entirely reasonable and understandable that GJ is going to use whatever mould they have to maximum advantage. So now we're getting some BA releases based on those moulds. Good, I say! It's been awhile since GJ has released BA. BA is popular, BA is what many collectors want, BA is what many collectors buy. It would be stupid for GJ not to satisfy their customers desires.

6) Gemini Jets is not as big a company as General Motors, are they? You'd have to agree that they can't produce an A340, A330, A321, A310, A300, DC-9, B767-200, B757-300, etc. all within a short period of time, right? Well, not if they want to be in business six months from now, anyway.

7) Have patience. GJ will eventually get around to these moulds and liveries. But to say "It's all about greed" is unfair and mean-spirited and doesn't jive with the facts.

8) So now you've sampled some GJ products and I take it that you like what you've seen? And that you'll be getting more in the future, true? Welcome aboard, then - GJ is a good company with some fine products. They take good care of their customers.

9) Want an A340 mould with your favorite livery on it? Start a public campaign for it. Tell people what you want, convince other collectors that they can't live without it, bang that drum! Several other collectors have done it successfully. The Transamerica 747, Ozark 727 and Avianca 757 retro are all examples of collector's requests that were produced. So get to it, man! They'll either make what you want because it's popular or make it just to shut you up! Nobody on this forum posts as much as you - I say use some of your natural ability to bullshit to get your model made! Yeah, Baby!

Hey Sarge - GJ had an MD80 mould before it was somehow grabbed by another company.
