I was thinking about buying a few of these to customize. Gee, I wonder what airlines I would choose to do.
If I do chose to do this, I would need some help in finding decals, advice in applying them, etc. I will post a thread in the custom models forum if I choose to do this.
By the way, I do have a Universal of my own. I plan to buy one of every DC-8 made in 1:400 scale. It is a nice model, but not one of my favorites.
HNL-Chris, I guess you may not remember you were too young, but have you heard of Pacific East Air they flew stretch 8s to Hawaii in the 80s, they used a DC10 too towards the end.
That would be a great addition to the collection, they had brown and yellow colors, really nice!

My dad's firm handled the advertising for Pacific East Air until they didn't pay their bills. We'll try to make a custom of it. He says this was at the same time Air Hawaii was flying DC-10's between Hawaii and the coast too. I understand the 10 that Pacific East flew never got the full livery, just the name on a white cabin.
If I remember correctly it was a Capitol Air hybrid scheme on that 10. Your dad is right at the same time as Air Hawaii and The Hawaii Express were flying also Aloha Pacific and Hawaiin ventured out of the islands and into long haul. It was like everybody and their sister flew to Hawaii at that time, lol.
I can't wait for that The Hawaii Express DC10 to finally be out by Jet-X and I wish they will make the Air Hawaii DC10 and The Hawaii Express B747 as well. I loved that The Hawaii Express color scheme so much I had it made custom in the Philippines in 1:125 scale I had 3 made one for me and 2 to sell to make up some of the cost of shipping, but have only sold one. Not alot of interest in that airline here in Florida. Here is a picture of it, I love this model. It's hand carved of mahogany and hand painted sweet!
