Unhappy I don't understand this forum anymore

What has happened to this forum? I so rarely participate in this forum any more because it has become so far from what it was orginally setup for. This use to be a great place to find out what was going on with our great hobby. If you liked Dragon, Herpa or Gemini you could find out what was new and improved. After reading some these off the wall posts that have nothing to do with any type of collecting of anything it makes me wonder. Has this forum become just a trash slinging. potty mouthed, name calling typical chat room that you find all over the internet! I will from time to time take a look to see if there is anything new coming out from Aero Classics, Herpa, Dragon, Jet-X and Gemini throught this forum. I believe that this forum started out as great way to share out love for Airliner related collectables. It too bad that this place has turned out like this. I believe that there is still a great deal of the people that participate in this forum that think the same way that I do! Seeing some of the posts that some of our fellow collectors place in here are imature
fowl in nature and it is so sad that it has been allowed. I am ever sorry that I have to post this comment. I have been following this forum for a number of years and it not getting better with age, it getting worse. I am a true optimist and I still believe that there are more people that post in the forum that think the same way and post for the same reasons I still do, for our great hobby! The old saying is true here that it only takes a few bad apple to ruin the whole barrel of good apples. I believe that it is time for the good apples to take back control of this forum and bring it back to the way it was a few years ago when people talked about our great hobby!

The 'Good ole' days' are no more... Gordon used to post all the new stuff that used to come out (whatever manufacturer). Now you have totally different people doing that.. often repeating themselves!
Also it's turned into a very 'clikish' set...
Still find some good info from time to time... especially about the New Releases and so forth. But like before?... Nahhh...
Too bad...

He posted those in such an informative way! This has been a loss for this place. Other then that within the last two years the BS is consistant!

Question

It's the end of the world as we know it... .

Actually, I'm suprised it took so long for such a rash of "non-true-believers" to infiltrate our little niche market, but alas they are gaining ground. It is simply simple evolution of the hobby, not unlike many another hobby.

Hopefully, unlike other "collectible" markets that have grown, grown, grown, peaked and then burnt out, this little specialty hobby will weather the storm.

Given the increase in gimmicks, exclusives, manufacturers, etc. - not to mention the infestation of speculating greed mongers , I'm not so sure as the evolutionary path is the same so far.

Now, for my optimistic view... .

With the success of that 'new' club down in Dallas, I'm hoping it branches out to several parts of the country... (also internationally)... so we're not so dependent on this 'site' for all the info.
Many of us are relatively close-by (when it comes to driveable distances)... Local Clubs is not a bad idea...

Just check in for new info every so often and ignore the junk. If you wanna be part of a clique, join the Rotary Club.

I have noticed the clique here too. It's just like in high school. Who cares? I will still post my opinions, and if they get a response they get a response, if not, that's just the way it goes.

Default All the other stuff

Maybe a seperate column for the Off Topic posts would help. It would clear some of the posts out of the columns that they don't relate to.
Just a suggestion.

Well Guys,

I come here every single day. And rarely post now, because of all the nonsense. But, I still enjoy my hobby and keep in contact via e-mail with the true collectors.
Do not lose faith though, us diehard true collectors are still here.

Now come on guys. The way I see it is that there are still a large number of posts involving model aircraft, new releases etc.

Granted there are a lot of OT posts but they are generally marked OT or it is made clear from the outset that they are not related to diecast models. Some of these involve, well, most recently a light hearted attack agains the frequency of my posts.

All I have to say on THIS topic (which is not related to collecting either) is that yeah, this forum is for model aircraft collectors but hey, let's have a little fun while we are at it and all of these OT threads let us do just that!

Walter, what are you 'boo-freakin-hoo'ing? My post or the general path of the thread?

I agree with the topic that this sight is getting off topic. I visit everyday, and kick my self for doing so because of the waste of time. There is hardly any post related to the aircrafts any more, and the imature items that are brought up are emberasing and uncalled for. I wish we could get back to the way it was.
