That's going to go for one hefty price! Fell like I'm on the price is right.

I say it will go for $425.67

There's only 3 ever made as far as i know. The story behind this model: Herpa and Gemini were in competition to produce a 1/400 Cathay 747-400 for the cxitement range of CX merchandise. However strangely Herpa have won with their crappy 747 mold. I can't understand why. Anyway, I've seen (and touched!) the Gemini Cathay 747-400 sample and my god it's ****ing 1000000000000000 better than the Herpa version. I've got the herpa version and i puke at it everyday coz it's such a piece of *******. but hey, what can you do when it's the only 1/400 cathay 747-400 around?

Certainly over 500. I wouldn't be surprised if it hit 1000+. BTW---that's the greatest GJ plane I've *ever* seen. CX's marketing/licensing department are utter complete morons/idiots--------"Let's go with the crappy one." "Yup, uh-huh, sounds good sir." "I agree."

Once more I am happy that I do not collect just every GJ release. This sample models ***** destroys the hobby, indeed. If they [the 1/400 manufacturers) would really care for collectors' interest, they would destroy the 1/400 samples that do not materialize (or just collect them in their manufacturer's cabinet of wannabes and may-be-in-the-future releases).

CRAP.

Keep in mind... sometimes, money rules. The Herpa bird was surely much cheaper. Furthermore, airlines do not pay too much attention to such collectors' stuff. Look at all the Schabak airline customers! Just a matter of $$$.

That's one baby I would love to get my hands on.
750+ sounds about right, and that is to much for me.

I think we should all just relax and wait for the regular release on this.

Do you guys remember the days when collectors would dish out over $2000 for a some Herpa samples? Crazy to think people used to pay thousands for a model. As absurd as it was, I have always wondered why with the popularity of Gemini Jets and Dragon Wings practically higher than Herpa ever was, why the sample market demand has never been nearly as high as Herpa's.

This model will not see the light of day as a regular release (but maybe sleeping man???).

GJ has washed their hands of CX so go for it if you must.

And yes I think those who spent over $200 on ANY herpa had a temporary mental disease (since they probably wouldn't do the same today).

I think the highest I heard of was $2,500 for an Evergreen 747

I haven't been collecting that long and already paid 3 digits for som rare ones but 4 digits that's kind of absurd. I guess if you can afford it though why not!?

Sorry my hands are itchy so I have to post them here:

IMHO, other than the tailing edge and pylons, this model kicks the Herpa version down to the drain!

I do think that in the long run tough to find Herpa's will definitely maintain a high price. After all, Herpa's were the original brand that started the detailed diecast market in the mid-90's, and it was Herpa collectors that eventually founded Gemini Jets. Over time, only more people will join this hobby, and Herpa's will still be the originals. Down the road maybe 20 years or so, Herpa's will become the Aero Mini's and Dinky models of today. Maybe one day, some of my Herpa samples will be worth millions. (Although we'd probably need a some demand and hyperinflation for that one)

Exclamation UPS vs CX

Well, if you are talking about the anal management of CX, then think about UPS first. At least CX has an online shopping site dedicated to models. Currently, CX offers models ranging from 1:500 to 1:144. What has UPS given us? Does UPS have a site for their models? What do we get from UPS? Those sh&#105t looking 1:500 Herpas or cheapo plastic snap fits from PPC? Give me a f&#117cking break! And what's even worse about UPS is all those models are not generally available to public!

Question

Sharp looking plane, but does nothing for me!

Will it price higher than the Qantas B747-300 'Nalanji Dreaming'?

CX is so desirable because I lot of people DO think it has great paint--n/c AND o/c. It's not Euro-white, and that's a BIG plus in my book. Plus, the o/c had bold cheatlines, a nice tail, and was bright green. Asides from Aer Lingus, they're the only big "green" airline.

Followup:

It's a BIG gap in everyone's collection. I think a lot of us here want at least one of every major airline, and CX is certainly that. Also, asides from Dragonair, it's the only HK airline, and certainly has 10000x better-looking planes.
