Question ~ does anyone know about this model?

Hi, been reading DAC for a while but this is my 1st post.
I collect only African airliners, I have all of them made by Herpa in 1:500 and 1:400 models are next. I have the Dragon SAA 747-300 (Ndizani) on order and the SAA 737-800 is soon to follow. I want to eventually end up with all 1:400 SAA models there are (will take a while because I'm a poor varsity student paying my own tuition and money is sparse for toy airplanes ~ hopefully I'll get them all before DW starts to pop out all kinds of new SAA Airbuses or before SAA goes bust and the models turn to gold).
I know of four 1:400 SAA models (DW 747-400; 747-300(2 versions); 737-800 & Gemini 747SP)

~This one eludes me though...
Dragon Wings #55030 - South African Airways A320.
Here's a link to Dragon's website where I learned of this model:

http://www.dragon-models.com/html/wings02.html#55030

So, does anyone know more about this model???
I can't find it in any online stores or for that matter anywhere else on the internet besides Dragon's website!
I know most of the rare birds made by dragon are hard to come across online, but this one truly seems non-existent.
(ofcourse all this presuming it was infact made...)
Anyone..?
Thanks

How about throwing in some support for an Air Tanzania 737-200?

Arrow Westjetter & Travelin' Man

Westjetter,
Thanks, I appreciate your info and your offer.
If it is one of DW's early releases, surely it would be considered as a "rare" model?
And the fact that it's no-where to be found (not even e-bay)would make it even rarer... yes?
I hope we're not talking about a model that's going to sell for a few hundered dollars!
I had to hold my breath for a long time and swollow really hard to pay even $40 for DW's Ndizani. How a piece of painted metal no-bigger than my hand can cost $40 is rediculously crazy, ~but hey I'm an addict after all.

Travelin' Man ~ you have all the support you need!
As long as the little 737 won't cost me more than a month's worth of gas i'm all for it!

Anyways, thanks again Westjetter.
I really hope though that someone out there can at least let me get a glimpse at a photo of this ghost A320.
Cheers

Try sending an e-mail to: comexhobby@hotmail.com

Make a general inquiry as to whether they might find one for you, they have managed to get a lot of rare DW models and still have quite the selection. Also they are in $CAN which would be to your advantage.

kakspat, not to douse your enthusiasm for this model but most likely this model was never made. If you look at the different lists of DW models available, the code 55030 is also used by the Aerolineas Argentina B742.

The listing you saw was probably an early listing done by DW but since then, they have changed things. A few of them are left there even though they haven't been produced.

I do not think that the SAA A320 was ever made...or not yet.

Does anyone have an example of the SAA A320 to show? I have never seen one. That does not mean anything, though coz I have only been in this game since November.

Edwin is correct on this one. If you look at the early Dragon catalog, they had pictures of boxes and model codes listed, but some of those planes never made it to production. I can't recall any other one that falls into this category, but definitely, the SAA A320 has not YET been released.

kakspat; do not overlook the GHANA AIRWAYS VC-10 & NIGERIA AIRWAYS VC-10, both 1:400 scale by AeroClassics.

There are several (still can not announce which) African airliners from AeroClassics coming up within the next 2 months!! Must haves, if you ask me!

Niels, could you please re-post your picture because it did not come through. I know about drawdecal, but i didn't know that plastic kits were available in 1:400 (are you talking about a decaled DW all white A320?)

aklein707, I didn't know of those Aeroclassics releases, thanks for the heads-up. They are indeed classic must haves. Will add them to my list. Looking forward to the new realeases too.

justplaneobsessed ; BillTse - I assume too that the A320 wasn't made, I thought so when I started this thread. I just wanted to make 100% sure that I wasn't missing out on it.

Anyone else got more info to mistify this even more?

Kakspat, there is a collector based in Namibia who gets specials made. I am aware of a SAA B742 Drakensberg in N/C as well as a B732C also in N/C he had made. I have seen the B732 and its pretty good.\
