Post LAX-HNL

I rode on Delta 747-100 on upper deck and second window section. It was awesome! I have flown on all of DL's jumbo jet 747,L-1011,DC-10-10 and MD-11! Only one I have not ride on is an 777 (plenty time) I just concrerate on flying more on MD-11 until its gone.

I know DL used at least 2 of their 747's in a sort of "code share" with PA. Pan Am crew flew and staffed the plane from London to Washington-Dulles (IAD), then the DL crew stepped on and took the plane from IAD-ATL (same in reverse). DL had 5 747's, but they were gone from the fleet within 3 years

EA 747 was short-lived, as well. They had originally ordered four 747's, with the intent of using them on a Miami-London route, but the CAB awarded the route to PA, instead. I believe the 747 was in EA's fleet for only 15 months, using 3 that were temporarily leased from PA, probably on the Miami-New York and Miami-West Coast routes.

Hope this helps.

Default Thanks!

I never knew that EA flew the 747. Thanks for pointing that out. I would really like to see one of these in the future from Gemini.

Eastern flew the PA Wet Lease 747's on the very popular JFK - MIA Route in direct competition with National's 747 Sun King's and both EA and NA flew 747's on the MIA - LAX / SFO Routes as well. EA had at least one of her 747's in the traditional "Hockey Stick / Dual Blue Stripes" Colors as well as the make-shift PA/EA Colors as shown in the pics. NA also had her 747's on the Miami - London Route.

Delta had a 747 on the JFK - MIA & FLL Routes as well as a JFK - ATL Route which was replaced with her first L-1011's. I believe DL used her 747's on the Atlanta - London Route also.

In flying those routes during that era, I found the interior Colors of the EA 747's a "hybrid" of Pan Am's (since they really were), but DL and NA were really classic. The NA Sun King's were really beautiful both inside and out and the service was great!!

It was the Delta 747 that got me into this hobby. I was on Ebay one day seeing if there were any pictures or cards available with the Delta 747 on it. I just happen to run across a title saying 1:400 Delta 747 on it, and the rest is history. Now i hav e over 200 models half of which I have gotten from teh guys who sold me the original Delta 747. its all his fault really

Mostly they were used on the ATL-DFW-LAX flights

I have a battery-operated Delta 747, and Aero Mini made an Eastern 747.

actually ... Gemini Jets has made samples (about 2-3 years ago) of both Eastern 747-100 schemes ...

the meatball on the tail style and the normal-looking hockey-stick style

Do you think there is any chance that either or both of those samples could still lead to a regular release?
