Re: PHOTOS - J C Wings - DC10 / A340 and F50
The forkers are exceptional, but the opposite for the DC-10 and A340. JC should stick to their good stuff.
A340: something doesn't look right. The wings look very 'thick'.
DC-10: cockpit printing is funny. Engine exhaust colours not accurate.

You do realise Phoenix will be releasing this exact model this month, right?

... for at least the double price..
I'll also go with JC - the printing is good and replicates this colorful bird well enough.. Phoenix's prices are ridiculous for 1:400 models, just like AC..

The old saying, 'you get what you pay for' has never rang more true. JC's A330/A340 mould look terrible - as do most, if not all of their widebody jet moulds.
To each their own ...
They should stick to making what they're good at.

So JC charges $18.00 for an A340? I know it was a ballpark figure, but I have found PHX quality to be better than JC. Seems JC sits at a factory window with a set of binoculars peering into PHX's planning room to get ideas for aircraft and then pushes them out faster. Faster is not always better.
I will say it was good of JC to fix their 1:200 Air New Zealand "All Blacks" a month later and then re-release it. However, I am now stuck with the first version as well. Sorry JC, I'm not buying your stuff without seeing pictures first and waiting to see if PHX is releasing it 30 days later. Not happening.

Re: PHOTOS - J C Wings - DC10 / A340 and F50
As we are in the middle of a double-dip recession I quite agree with LH B747-430
I now have to think very carefully before spending, and Phoenix prices are becoming
prohibitive here in the UK - whatever you guys pay in USD$, we pay the same
in GBP£. You pay $40 .... we pay £40 (or $60)
A lot of UK collectors purchase from the USA because it is cheaper to do so.
Likewise with AeroClassics £30 (or $45) for an A320 ..... just not happening.
If you can afford to buy Phoenix, then by all means do so.
I will happily buy the JC version (with its faults, not that I can see many)
the printing quality looks very good to me.
I think we are all getting a little tired of a certain persons boring retoric
telling us what we can or cannot buy. Either put up.... or shut up.

I couldn't agree more. I cannot think of a single reason why anyone would want JC's version of the SAA (or any A330/A340 for that matter) over PHX's version. And sorry, no, it cannot be price - JC's A340s cost around $1 less than PHX's A340s in most cases I have seen.

+1. JC cannot compete with PH with its 777 and A340 and most modern airliner moulds. Ph Beats JC hands down.

Re: PHOTOS - J C Wings - DC10 / A340 and F50
With the exception to the cockpit windows on the Dc10, its a fine looking model.
Even AC with their fine Dc10 release stuffed the cockpit windows so who is right and who is wrong...all opinions that really matter to no-one except themselves. I for one think the JAL and Alitalia are fine releases....
Move on....
What are some other Dc10's that can be done?
Air Afrique / AOM / UTA ......

...also,
JC - any chance of seeing that Fokker mould used on some old Ansett's and TAA's.
...
and yes the AC ones look fine also.

Re: PHOTOS - J C Wings - DC10 / A340 and F50
my apologies to all comments against JC... i'm just a small time , low income collector... not being cheap just the budget constraint. I'll be very happy, satisfied and content if i can even have one model per month. PH, love it but i have to eat, pay my utilities, my car and my house and support my mother.

Then as the old saying goes...Buy what you like and like what you buy and all the while ignore what anyone else may say. You're spending your money not theirs.

My sentiments entirely, particularly in the UK where petrol / gasoline costs a small fortune, and running a car is becoming a luxury.
