Default eBay bidding question

OK..so i found a couple of jets on eBAY...both from the same seller.. that i REALLY want.

BUT.. seller is in the USA (Utah) and in each item description says he will ONLY ship in the USA. However... it does not restrict me from bidding on the items. (i'm in Canada)

So lets say.. i win the auction.. would you think the seller could change his mind and or is forced to ship to me? or would they 'negate' the sale?

I've sent the seller 3 messages now.. all with NO response. One i clearly said that I understand that shipping to Canada is more $$ and i was willing to spend it.

seller is definitely NOT a power seller.. maybe has less than 250 ratings albeit at 100%.

ideas? should I try and win the auction? I NEED THESE 1:400s FOR MY DISPLAY!!!

you will probably find if you do bid, the seller will just cancel them. if you bid in the few seconds and win, the seller can if he wanted cancel the sale.

No seller deserves the load of crap you are putting on them. If they said "No" leave them alone. How dare you bid on something that puts the screws to the seller and winner from the U.S.? There is a seller option on ebay to ban you from bidding and hope he or she uses it for people like you.

I'm glad you are making a heads-up decision and hope the best in your bidding.

yah dont worry.. i will work with the seller to make sure he/she is the least bit inconvenienced... i value ebay and all that it has to offer as well as the people selling on there..as noted in my original post, i will pay whatever it takes to get these 2 jets to me. (including whatever it will cost to ship)

I agree, contact the seller before the auction ends and if he says no, accept it - I had the same thing - buyers from countries i clearly didn't mark won the items and dropped me messages like "C'mom man!" - I hate idiots who do this..

If you have an alternative address, then good for you and it should be fine..

Having just sold 75+ 1/400s on ebay...

Sellers tend to only ship in the U.S. because of the common post rates. Once you start letting international bids in it throughs everything out of wack. I had a guy from South Korea bump up one of my bids to almost $300 for a model. He assumed shipping was going to be $7.95 like I had listed... In reality it was going to cost $25.90. He canceled the sale.

Let the buyer do what he wants, don't burden him with a sale he doesn't want. If he doesn't respond, don't bid.

That's my .02 from a seller.

Great response PAL!

But seriuosly though, if the seller hasn't respond to your inquiry then the best bet is to leave it alone. Don't bother to bid as it will inconvience the seller and disappoint yourself. You may get a negative feedback as well.
If you do have a plan to ship it to the states, then good but some sellers might still cancel the transaction if the payment is coming from an outside source.

Do you have any friends in the USA that will accept the package for you? That way they can send the package to you in BC and mark it as a gift. Cheers! T7

Yah. I gave up. It's a shame. But found the equivalent in a 1:500 and will have to settle for that. Thing is, current bid is a mere $10 when it would have been easily a lot higher so whoever wins, assuming it goes for less than $20, is gonna luck out.

So, you going to keep us in suspense...what are the models you're slavering over? Maybe someone has them for a decent price on this forum.

eBay item 170889269295. Expires 8pm pst.

Told the seller I would pay whatever it takes...but *sigh* no response. Also appears the seller may be relatively new to eBay selling.

If the seller knows what they are doing they can set the parameters in their auction to restrict bidding from certain countries or regions they do not want to sell to and it will not let individuals with shipping addresses in those countries bid. The seller is causing an unnecessary headache for themselves! People do bid sometimes without catching this in the description/narrative and then the seller has to send a request to the buyer to cancel the transaction. The buyer can agree or disagree. If the buyer agrees the seller gets credited for their end of auction fees. All other sorts of issues can arise that can cost the seller in terms of final transaction fees and negative feedback. Sounds to me as if the seller does not know the different ways to manage their auctions to avoid such issues!

After checking on that auction you were trying to get shipped to Canada, I realized I was looking at this guys items to, but he seems to not really know what he is doing, there is good and bad on Ebay. Overall I have been real lucky who I deal with. This guy I would avoid, he states l no refunds due to rareness of a model ?? What the heck does one have to do with the other. He only ships two days a week and doesnt even tell you what kind of shipping it is. He overcharges on shipping too, $8.50 for an MD82 or 727 1/400 scale, he has to be kidding. Based on what I see he has a pretty bad attitude for a newer seller.

I get a descent amount of planes from one guy and he charges under 5.00 for a 727 1/400 size plane and ships in a day or two usually, has pretty good prices and is also a 100% rated with over 700 comments. Also very polite when I ask a question.

Well good luck with what you need.

I just get it shipped to my post office box in Blaine, and pick it up when convenient to me. Sellers are happy, I avoid the hassle and delay of getting a parcel through customs. Been doing it for ages, no issues whatsoever.

I've only had one problem seller in all the years I been buying on eBay. Absolutely refused a non-U.S. based bank account to Paypal. Didn't matter that the item was being shipped to a U.S. address (Blaine). Mighty weird, I thought.

I've been watching an item on eBay Germany. Hmm, wonder if I should buy it, and see if they will ship to North America...

Finally received my DC-10 today. Will never deal with this seller again. Took him 1.5 weeks to ship it upon receiving my eBay PayPal payment. ...but love the model!
