Cathay A330-300, Herpa, JC, or Aeroclassics?
Hello,
As I am pretty much finished with my CAL fleet, my theme of collection has become to collect the planes that I have been on~ Not necessary the same registration, but the same model/type of aircraft.
Cathay's A330-300 was the first aircraft I have ever been on that has a personal AVOD system. So this one should definitely be added into my collection. The problem is, there are many brands that have this model. Herpa, which is the official Cathay version, JC Wings, and Aeroclassics.
IMO, Herpa and Aeroclassics would be my first choice~
Herpa version should not be hard to find.
Aeroclassics version should already be sold out or backordered.
So should I try to get the AC version? or should I just get the Herpa Version? Thanks

Hmmm... I personally don't like PHX's A330~ Don't know if the RR engines have the same problem~ But the GE engines are too big~ Plus the QC control is a pain...

Re: Cathay A330-300, Herpa, JC, or Aeroclassics?
After comparing them through pictures on Ebay, database, and other sources, I think that I would go for the AC one. Herpa's version seems to have small engines, which seems to me, like an A340 with two engines... ~ PHX version? I will get it only if I can't get the AC version~

Why should someone wait for a PHX release when AC already released it on a superior mould??? Be careful with CX releases by PHX - Their colors are a joke - their last Hong Kong trader B748F i got was more a fantasy release than a replica of the real thing as far as colors were concerned.. They have no license and just take a color that might do it or not.. PHX just doesn't care..

The AC release is almost impossible to find at a reasonable price and I'm pretty sure AC does not have a license either.

Supply and demand imbalance. Some of sellers like "Virginfans" put the price fry very high. People are starting to follow suit. It's incredible.
I believe Aeroclassics is not Apple company,it`s no need to set limit to sales.

Re: Cathay A330-300, Herpa, JC, or Aeroclassics?
I just got my AC one---very nice, one of the nicest 1/400 I have I think. (yes, some people may wish to make a note--I just posted a positive comment about a model) (of course, I've only given it a 10-sec look-over for damage etc, I haven't *really* looked at it yet)
Belly and nacelles *are* proper CX "pale minty-grey" and contrasts with the "standard Airbus light grey" of the wings and pylons. (while many models get the belly right, most screw up when it comes to the nacelles and pylons and what should be which grey)
Thanks to eztoys for packing it nicely, nothing loose or broken.

Avoid JC wait for PH and get the AC if possible! HE is ok and is probably one of the easiest to acquire but as you said, their engines are bit small as if the A340 with 2 engines...

Nice going David It's nice to see there is actually a model which meets your high standards!! Let this be the guiding light for those who can't decide.

I've got both AC versions and they are simply superb.
Do yourself a favour and hunt high and low until you locate one - you wont be dissapointed.

Must second that. I've been doing this awhile and can't remember Dave ever being wrong. I also can count on one hand when he did like something.
I learned what "coroguard" was from him. Lol.

Haha, thanks for everyone's advice.
I have ordered the Aeroclassics version of VR-HLA from Just plane fun before it was gone.

Right, so they stuff up the colours on the 748F and that means that their colours are a 'joke'?
Their previous CX releases - such as the 772 and 773 - the colours were spot on. The 748F was an aberration. I would not expect them to make the same mistake with an A330 should they release one.
