Default Is this model affected by zinc rot?

Hi all,
I wanted to know if this model: http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...view-3983.html
is affected by zinc rot, I notice that the production date is 2003
and it has been said that models in this period have the "plague" from the AC and bigbird factories. Anyone here have the model, I love the livery and saw plenty in phnl.
Thanks

I agree that the reverse-thrust lines look like they are open, but does that comment answer the question or help the thread-starter at all?

I kind of like this feature, something different.. So, can anybody help if this model is affected or not?

Just place it on the runway in your diorama.

I have all 3 Kalitta models in this BigBird series and they are amongst my favourites (sorry Andew must disagree). They are not affected by zinc rot, safe to purchase.

See the line-up of all 3 here. Kalitta Air

The painted-on reversers is one of the stupidest and most-famous errors in all of diecast 1/400 though, and deserves to be pointed out.

Well thanks a bundle for pointing it out, so glad you've made that point about a model that has been released many years ago. The contribution is mind boggling, thanks. Meanwhile to repeat the actual simple answer to a simple question, no it was not affected. Now go and hijack another thread.

I would assume he's asking about the model because he's interestd in purchasing it, and wants to know if there's any serious issues with the release--well, yes there is, an infamously big one. True, it's not the one he originally asked about, but it is something that may greatly influence his purchasing decision.

If someone asked if the 1/400 GJ widget 757 had zinc-rot, the answer would be similar---no, but any potential purchaser should know it does have the worst cockpit printing in GJ history.

I have not heard of ANY 747s affected by zinc rot. Seemed to be confined only to a batch of 707s,720s and 737s made during that period.

There is the infamous zinc rot that infected the Bigbird JAL Disney sea 747 model
A quick search on the forums provided this, check out post #2 and #3

Cool,
I could put this alongside my Supert anker and British Airways VC10 with the spoilers printed backwards.

I think all you can do is to simply avoid buying models known to be vulnerable - educate yourself on which time periods, which manufacturers, which models.

The question was answered by the first word in the reply. Andrew decided to add some more flavor to the answer.

There are actually a few; Big Bird (aka Johnny Lo, Paul Law, Jimmy Wu, Johan Chan, Witty Industrial Co. Ltd) JAL Disney Sea (both) & Northwest o/c 747-400.
Those had zinc rot. AS I earlier pointed out, that group was also responsible for some of the most stupid errors ever made.

Tim, it was that same factory of lovely blokes which printed the backwards spoilers, and the famous Super T anker.

I thought I'd seen a Singapore Tropical 744 with zinc rot.

Nice models mate, gotta love connie!
Are Kalitta air one of the only operators still using classic 747's with the JT9's?
