Missing Wheels/Axels/Tires
Hello Guys,
I just joined the hobby and rec'd my first 1/400 kit, a Phoenix Airbus A345. Purchased *new*.
I was shocked and disappointed it was missing a couple wheels!!!!
Is this typical? I am very discouraged right now. I feel that for $45 I should receive the right product.
Appreciate any and all thoughts.

Just curious, was it purchased new from a retailer or used from Ebay? If from a retailer ask them for an exchange or return for a refund. If from Ebay, hopefully you paid by Paypal and you can open a claim.
Don't let this discourage you from this great hobby though.

Re: Missing Wheels/Axels/Tires
It was purchased from a reputable reseller, and, he has gone out of his way to help me. So, that much is good. I'm wondering now what the level of QC is for some of these companies, whether they inspect their product before they ship...

Re: Missing Wheels/Axels/Tires
That can happen to models that have rolling gears.
The wheels are attached to each other via a small axl and when they are not connected well, they can come off.
Your retailer can (and probably will) provide you with a couple of spare wheels, so you can fix this small issue.

Re: Missing Wheels/Axels/Tires
I've got plenty of similar models and wheels do detach from time to time.
Most of the time its just the circumstances with shipping of just the axle or tyre not being pushed in enough and then it seperates.
99% of the time you can just carefully reinsert the axle and the tyres should all go together nicely. They are diecast to so they can be reshaped if bent but don't push too hard othewise you can break them.
Don't be discouraged ....

From what I know, Phoenix's QC is very bad! Especially their paint jobs

to the OP, don't be discouraged. this happens from time to time. it come with the territory. just use what contacts you have made with the retailer to see what he can do for you. if you can manage to get some spare parts, be careful and use a dash of supper glue!

Missing wheels has nothing to do with QC at the factory. This kind of damage is usually caused during shipping. Why the wheels are no longer in the box raises another question though. No matter what, it's an easy fix.

How can missing wheels be caused during shipping? It's definitely a QC thing. You know in some minimum wage Chinese worker didn't install it on the model correctly. Once again Haim your stupidity doesn't fail to amaze.

Re: Missing Wheels/Axels/Tires
It's more irritating when you realize a wheel fell off inside your house somewhere. It's hard to find those things.

How would a wheel "usually" go missing in transit? Phathom wheels? That would be called broken sir. The wheel would still be floating in the cradle somewhere. There's a difference. My followers have common sense and a brain. The things you lack.

Yeah, welcome to this forum. Watch out for that waffle character. If you say something he doesn't agree with he'll attack you for no reason. And watch out for those weekly warnings of doing business with him, they're actually very entertaining as he tries to mock his customers. waffle...you're turn..

Re: Missing Wheels/Axels/Tires
Thanks guys. The missing pieces weren't in the cradle, I've been cautious about that from the beginning, having previously built plastic models for 30 years... I know how little items can shift during a shipment.
I'm confident this was something they ommitted at the factory.
This 'site has been a tremendous resource to me. Thank you all for the warm welcome, I'm happy to be onboard and look fwd to building a little collection, and perhaps building a scale terminal or two!
