Default No One Interested in PBA?

Come on, guys!

Gemini is keeping this fledgling line alive a little longer.

The release of the PBA DC-3 (a model and carrier I have been waiting for) should be bigger news.

I'm getting one. It'll look great next to the Lake Central.
And in the end, is this what will become of the 1/250 line? Gemini will release a few relatively obscure schemes for a few really diehard collectors on the moulds they already have. SO, maybe, we have some B-738s, MD-80s, DC-8-61s, and a few more DC-3s to look forward.

We can only home. For those who have invested in a few of these, it would be a nice outcome.

I'm going to order a couple. My last DC-3 flight was on a PBA from Martha's Vineyard and I thought it was one of the last, great "bootstrap" airlines.

Gemini's DC-3 mold is outstanding and I hope they keep releasing vintage liveries on it.

I still think Gemini will do well if the continue with this mould and regional North American carriers. I would still love to see a Piedmont. They had a very striking c/s and even named their individual aircraft. Others we might see, that would sell well, would include Bonanza, Trans Texas, Frontier, Mohawk ("Gaslight Service"), Central (two different schemes), Southern, Chicago & Southern (green). Why not do a Delta for the ship in the museum. Heck, they could sell them there and through them on mail order. I'd also like to see the later Delta c/s on this (nathurally, lol). Why not Captial?

If you want to do the later Ozark, Trans Texas, and some others, yiou would need to add landing gear doors. They decided to "streamline" the 3 and maybe add a mile per hour to the cruising speed.

I hope all of these will be made including Hawaiian's outstanding Viewmaster edition. I flew on them several times and the view of the Hawaiian islands was breathtaking and the aircraft livery was one of the best I have ever seen on a DC-3.
Hawaiian later equipped them with Pacific Aeromotive's, "Speed Pac" gear doors, tail wheel strut fairing and streamlined cowlings with thrust augmentation. Ozark and Hawaiian both claimed a 10 mile per hour increase in speed but the changes were made to dress up an aging plane to attract customers looking for a more modern airliner.

See, this is kinda what I was thinking about. Perhaps it becomes a series, release one every other month, make them a bit more collectable. Dare I say that this might attract more historian-type collectors to the hobby. I know that in the model railroad genre they do 'Heritage Series' type releases for steam locomotives. Why not a 'Classic Regional Airlines' in this scale, since the mould is good?

..... A friend of mine and I leased one of PBA's idle planes for a quick, but very profitable cargo flight. I can't remember the registration, but it was one of the ex-C-47s. My log book is long gone or else I could look up the registration. It was quite a rush to be the right-seater in such a historic plane. We landed in Newark, NJ and no one could figure out what airline it was since PBA didn't fly there. Dropped off our cargo, picked up a small cargo, flew her back to Boston early the next day and spent the rest of that day getting the seats back into it. Last I heard such a quickie lease/rental is no longer possible.
..... Stupid me, didn't even take a picture of it. The first and last time I flew anything as great as that old Douglas. Wonder where the ex-PBA planes are now.

I like this model. Remember seeing it many years go when on hoilday in New England. Also remember on a different trip a DC-3 of Island Airways? as well at Hyannis Airport with some stored YS-11's. Have them on slides somewhere.
