If you have missing tails and engines on your Aero Mini's you can simply make your own instead of salvaging lesser quality models which are still expensive at times. The engines on the Air Florida 737 are made of homemade molded plastic. You can see what they look like on the 727 before paint.

Close-up. These have not been cleaned and painted but the detail is exactly the same since Aero Mini tails were used in making the molds. You just need to remove the flash if there is any after the resin dries.

The Continental DC-9 has a replacement resin tail while the Braniff Ultra 727 has resin replacement engines. And yes, Braniff had three Ultra 727-100s - all in black, I believe.

How do you make the mould?

The molds are made from silicon rubber that you mix together. The resin is a two-part solution that dries quickly through some type of heat process.

Nice job over the wood and hotel cards, huh? Is the dentist acrylic smoothe? The product I use is Por-A-Cast and it is super smoothe and easy to paint. It is very slightly flexible and is the same consistency as those little white plastic planes that Delta used to give away. It comes in two colors. I am making molds right now for full-size resin Aero Mini's such as a DC-9-31 stretched and a 727-200 stretched.
If you do not want to go to this much trouble just use sheet plastic in various thickness. Cut the stabilizer lines into it with an Exacto knife/ruler and super glue it together. Fill the cracks with Super Glue or JB Weld, sand and paint. The British Airways VC-10 jet pictured has a sheet plastic prepared tail. |

The dentist acrylic is hard an a little bit rough, you have to sand it!
It is like salt, sugar or sand, then you add a special liquid, it gets hot and then it takes the shape of the mould and becomes hard! ![]()
