Believe it or not, Aero Mini DC-8's are very rare pieces. Aero Mini produced the DC-8 in just 3 schemes: Eastern, Air Canada, and the Extremely ultra rare Japan Air Lines (unauthorized version...good luck finding that one).

The one in question here is for all purposes basically a near mint piece. Mint, flawless EAL DC-8 pieces have an estimated retail value of approximately currently $310 U.S. So with a feeding frenzy such as ebay...the final value wasn't that far off the mark.

You may be surprised as you venture into this line more...certain Aero Mini models can command some fairly steep prices. And this one went for pretty much what it is valued at.
