Default Tekno Caravelle

I know they weren't AeroMinis, but the Tekno range was the inspiration for Mr. Metchik's models that we love so much. Is there a source for a Tekno Caravelle other than eBay? What do they typically sell for without boxes? Does anyone have a spare Caravelle they'd like to sell me?

Thanks,

Mike Bartel

I had a Tekno Caravelle for years. It was my original one from 1968 or thereabouts. I sold it to Elliot Epstein (who may be associated with Gemini Jets) about ten years ago. It was play-worn and probably needed restoration.

Many established toy collectors/dealers will occasionally have Tekno Caravelles but they are not very common models.

I was able to get one off eBay about a month ago. A very nice model, and it's full 1:200 scale, which means the decals from the Heller 1:200 Caravelle can be used to repaint it, which is what I will probably end up doing.

Thanks,

I noticed you already have a Tekno Caravelle now, but if you're interested I have 2 on ebay right now. SAS and Air France.

I like their DC-7c's also.

Elliot is my brother and owner of Gemini Jets..Between the two of us collectively we have probably a dozen Tekno caravelles and DC-7s...I have no idea what these things are worth as mine are all in those funky green and clear plastic holders...

As for value, who knows. I have a bid on my SAS right now, but the Air France (which has had its authenticity questioned) hasn't any bids yet. For the record the Air France is genuine. Over the years I've seen 7 or 8 of these. They are quite rare and one assumes they were made for the French market (or maybe not). French Dinky would have captured the French Caravelle market I reckon.

The Air France Tekno Caravelle is well documented, do you have one ?

Modern 1:200 Carevelles made have devalued the old Tekno's.

The gent posing the question says it looks like a repaint with Heller or "Mexican" decals. Well the |Heller decal doesn't have any windows printed on, the registration is different and the Air France titling is a different style, so that's out of the question.

Can you tell me about the Mexican decals to which he alludes ? I've never heard of them before.

I have 9 Tekno 7c's. SABENA, SWISSAIR, ALITALIA, SUDFLUG, KLM (block tail), KLM (crown & stripe tail), SCANDINAVIAN in blue and one in lilac!...plus Scandinavian Airlines System which, wait for it, is NOT Tekno but has Mecline Norway cast undermeath and was licence made!!! So if you count the Mecline and Tekno original SAS as 2 versions, there are 10 to collect in all !

See you at Gatwick next week ?

Graham

Can someone post a picture of their, I have never seen these. Model Power however has an Air France 1:250 Carvelle for a very reasonable price.
