Jacques, are those the original decals that came on the plane or one of your custom jobs?

Was the JAL DC-8 hard to find in the 1970s, in Japan (I realize it was not exported), or is it only considered to be rare now?

Wink AM DC8-61 JAL

In the 70's I used to be often on the Tokyo route & I knew quite a lot of Hobby shops. The 727 ANA & Jal were not easy to find & the JAL DC8 just impossible. From what I know those models were not made by AM itself but by the foundary which somehow decide to do few models on their own which was quite unfair .
If Metchick the then owner of AM has been more experienced about international buiseness he would have been more cautious with the Japanese run his Company with more care and AM could have been what Herpa is today. Almost from the beginning AM which had with no competitor became a must for many collectors imainly in US & UK (as well as Japan with the "special models".regards Jacques

Thumbs up

I'm just simply amazed. I personally like the shorter DC-8s, but
that also look very classy!

Great job!
