Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
In your opinion, who do you think makes the best model of the 787, in both 1:200, and 1:400 scale?

Hogan makes the best 787 1:200 in my opinion.
This one is my favourite. It should be available in 2 weeks:

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
Phoenix has the best 787 mould for me, I had also Hogan but Phoenix is much better (antennas etc)
Howewer, the best B787 model for me would be Phoenix 1/200 in LOT livery

Lukasz

Is that a -9? Can't read what the stand says.
What about gears?

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
Ok, I am going to start my collection off in either 1:400, or 1:200 scale, I need a size comparison photo, or something. I am leaning more towards 1:200 scale...and I am going to collect the Boeing jets in House liveries. Jetway Models has most of them, but I haven't found the Phoenix 787 yet, any help?
I would go with 1:400 scale, but I can't find the Phoenix 787 on 1:400. Also, anyone have an opinion on the Dragon Wings 1:400 scale 787?

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
1:200 is very detailed but it takes up way to much space and is way to expensive. My favorite is 1:400 because it is a nice size and not to expensive! Keep searching for the Phoenix 1:400 787 it is a really nice mould!!

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
That's true, and there are more varieties in 1:400. I think I will go with 1:400. I want to start with the Pheonix 787 in House colors, then the 777. I can't find any Phoenix Models, I can find Dragon Wings, but thats about it. I am also not buying from ebay. I may have to get the 787, andth 747-8 in 1:200 scale, if I can't find them in 1:400....

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
There is nothing wrong with that! I collect mostly 1:400 but I also have a few 1:500's and I plan on getting some 1:200's in the near future!

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
Ya, but I usually like to stick with one size, to make them all match. Any specific brands you prefer (quality) that makes Boeing planes in House colors?

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
I don't personally own any in Boeing House Colors but I have seen some. Out what I have seen I like The Phoenix and Gemini Moulds best. (depends on which aircraft you want)

747-8, 787, and 777 mainly. Can't find either from Phoenix....must not be looking in the right place. Where do you get your models from?

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
I get mine from usually from jetwaymodels.com. He has a 777-200, 777-200LR, 777-300, and 787-8 all in 1:400 scale and in Boeing House Colors all Dragon Wings though...

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
I know, how are the Dragon Wings Models? I would rather at least just have a 1:400 Phoenix 787 with the N787BA registration, the other models don't have to be Phoenix, just good quality models.

DW is okay. The only thing I don't like is the plastic wings...

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
Oh....plastic wings, kinda like the new Matchbox models. Probably will get the 1:200 scale 787 from Skys the Limit....then the 747-8 from the Boeing Store, then I will venture down to some 1:400 787's.

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
Probably around $45-$60.00.
But I am also not looking into anything that uses PayPal.......I have had some problems in the past with it.

Does the Phoenix version have the white engines and wings that the real aircraft does?

i think it might be a good one. price aside...with the mix of diecast and plastic parts...it may be a real detail winner! best of both worlds. metal for the fuselage and plastic for details!

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
Phoenix is without a doubt better than Hogan. I would think seriously before you start collecting whether to do 1:400 or 1:200. For the reasons people stated above, I did 1:400. Then, I wanted a Pan Am 737-200 and couldn't find it in 1:400, so I bought the IF 200 release. That's all it took. The 200s have so much more detail. Yes they are more expensive and take up more room, and have less options, but it is worth it IMO.

Re: Best 787 Model (1:200 scale and 1:400)
I think that in terms of the 1:200 scale 787's, none of the companies have been able to make them very accurately. The 787 has a very streamlined, yet large, "wingbox" which houses the base of the wings. None of the models have featured that except for the Dragon Wings 787s (1:400 scale), but then again, Dragon Wings 787s have horrible engines and their wings are too curved. My favourite, by far, is the Phoenix 1:200 787. Although it's not completely accurate, I like the curved fan blades in the engine and the tail. It's lacking a lot of detail, but it's one of the better ones so far.
