Default 747-100 / 200 ?

Im looking for a 747-100 from herpa or hogan.
I thought 100 has 3 windows and 200 has 10 at the upper deck.
but i found that the swissair 747-200 has 3 and looked like a 100
and the ana 747-100 has 10 and looked like 200.

so what is the difference between 100 and 200 now?

thanks :-D

Hi Pewter,
the 747-100 & 747-200 were quite similar except 3 things :
the 747-200 has higher weights, more powerful engines and longer range
compared to the 747-100.
For the windows the 10 windows appeared with the later 200 though some exceptions for the older 100 like the ANA one.
I hope it helps.
For your collection I can recommend the Herpa Pan-Am 747-100 and the Hogan Swissair 747-200.
Welcome in the forum as it is your very first post.

thanks ;-)

my goal is to get somehow every plane modell from hogan/herpa (no dicast) one time.

so far I just have air france and lufthanse. so its impossible to get them all with just these two. Im not sure about how to go one.
one way would be to add other big europeans like ba, swissair and alitalia.
or just to add continental
not easy...
pan am 747-100 would be a real one, but looks (at least at the pics) ugyl.
also not european.
swissär lookes better and like a 747-100 but seems to be a 200. maybe not the best to collect all 747 modells ;-)
this would give me:
"100" swissair
200f air france
200 air france - dont know if this makes sence 8the same plane just different color
300 swissair
400 lufthansa
400f air france - short upper deck
800 - mabee later lufthanse?
800f - ???

???
;-)

Alot of 747-100's had 10 windows on the upper deck i.e. ANA, JAL, Saudia, Iran Air etc and 747-200's had 3 windows on the upper deck i.e. Swissair, KLM etc.

You can also get the 747-200 or 200F of UTA by Hogan. I have it and its a great model.

The one way to tell if you are looking at a model as the weights and engine power will not be evident is to look at the engine type. Early Pratt & Whitney for the 100 and GE, RR, and later PW for the 200 is usually how to tell.
