Default Woohoo!!

Yes! Just won the Herpa Premium Continental 737 on ebay. Someone else had to jump in on the action and jack the bid up in the final minute though. Sorry if that was anyone here! Been after this one for a while, glad to finally secure it, even if it was for a little more than I hoped for. Winning bid was $202.50; pricey for a 737, I know, but still much less than a retailer would charge, so that's how I justify it.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Well who else besides you to enjoy the Herpa Premium Continental 737. Congrats...and no that wasn't me, though I tend to jump in the last few minutes...

Its usual practice for many to jump in at the last min. They silently watch and then pounce.

Thanks guys! Ironically, I lost a bid war for a Premium CO 737 about a year ago to the seller I just won this one from, so I'm assuming I just won the same exact model that was sniped away from me a year ago, heh.

Yeah, I've noticed. Pretty annoying if you ask me... but I admit I'd been watching this one since the day it went up but didn't put my bid in until the last few seconds. Ebay could sorta stop "sniping" by automatically extending the auction a couple minutes if a bid is placed in the final few seconds..

Annoying is a mild understatement. The big buyers swear by this practice and most of the time win every auction as they've now got so much experience in snipe bidding and alot of them also use an online service that does snipe bidding in the last few seconds. You're left with no choice but to do the same thing.

It's a hit or miss situation, When I still used Ebay for buying models from, I only won like 1 out of 5 bids.

Another way of doing is, if you REALLY want something, then put your bid in, and then, for your maximum bid, put the highest that you possibly would want to pay for it.
The bid price still stays at the first amount you bid for, meaning others cannot see what you have actually put.

Then, in the last seconds, if someone tries to snipe, you just ramp it up more so they never catch you, and if they do, then good luck to them because at least you've done your best.

I read some rather snotty comments on here from time to time about how people put the price up, but sometimes, that's exactly what you have to do if you want the item in question. I'm sorry I have to do it, but there you go.

That is exactly how I got my Qatar A332, even though I put a really high bid and then in the last few minutes had to wage a war with another to finally sieze it.

I guess somebody bought it as I was posting the link. Ebay can be a heart break or a lucky take. I bought a Herpa Air Jamica A340-300 1:200 for over $230.00 US dollars and a couple of months later the same exact plane sells for about $90.00 US dollars, go figure huh. On the other hand I won the Herpa Austrian "Wiener Philharmoniker" A340-300 1:200 for an unbelievable $40.00 US dollars, I laughed my but off that day, Anyways congrats Mike777, it takes strategy and quick thinking to win on Ebay now.

Oh no...you totally misunderstood my statement....I know who the seller of that Air Jamaica is....not the bidder....or bidders for that matter.... I bet both the Austrian and the Air Jamaica make a fine pair together....You must love them! And both A340s and both Herpas....I would have passed out!!

Do what I suggested above.

If they still want to pay over your highest price, then at least you have done all you can.

And remember, the chances are, there will always be another, or a similar one along sooner or later.

I remember going to the College library for the computers a few times just to make sure I got what I had bid on

'Sorry, be back in a few minutes, call of Ebay!'

Yes, he's the seller. Not sure why he's on such a selling spree, but I'm glad I got his CO Premium!

Hmm... I don't understand. That listing is in German but the url says ebay.com as opposed to ebay.de. I know that listing wasn't on ebay.com, because I've searched for "Herpa Premium" multiple times a day for a while now and never saw that. Oh well, next time I'll check the international sites as well.

Goodness, that same seller has a LH Modell Edition 744 with a Buy It Now price of 84.95 Euros, which ebay says is approximately 133.09 USD. That is an absolute fantastic deal, even with shipping to the U.S. But not being able to read the auction description, I don't know if anything is wrong with the model or not.
