Default Inflight Delta 747 vs 737

The blue on the 737 seems alot darker than on the 747. In fact it looks black on the 737. Is this a mistake on inflight's part?

I'd guess it's just lighting differences between the two photos, but maybe someone here has both models and can tell us for sure.

Default Re: Inflight Delta 747 vs 737 vs DC9

I'll throw a DC9 into the equation then....

versus me 747.... ( I dont seem to have a Delta 737...)

I think its more a case of the nose being black on the DC9/737, the 747 doesnt have this and therefore the fuselage livery appears to be more blue than black...

They are all nice models though.. (the DC9 could have done with some silver frames..) dont let it put you off... the 747 seems to be getting quite rare...

If it "looks black" without actually being black--that's right. Being "obviously blue" is far too blue. DL widget blue is like 99 parts black to 1 part blue. It should be difficult to tell from pure black. (But it should still be just blue enough to not match the pure black of the nose)

IMHO

The widget 9 is tempting me after seeing those pics, holding out though. Thanks for posting them.
PS: I remember the widget 74 at Atlanta back in the 70's. Two engines were being worked on at the time.

Just got myself a DC9... thanks Agent... ! I don't even remember how many models I have bought based on your photos... Manufacturers would be selling so much more if they had someone like you taking their pics.... Why is that almost every single manufacturer has such lousy photos for their models, haven't they realized that a good quality photo sells better??

just wondering

I think the real colors are actually off-blue, and the 747 color does look a little more blue-ish than the 737.

Let's not forget the distance effect on colors. The farther an object is, the lighter its color appears. A lot of modelers make the colors lighter specially when the models are small. If the 747 is farther away from the photographer than the 737, then its blue may appear lighter. Another effect maybe time, colors typically fade in time. I doubt that Delta would have painted their planes with different shades of blue.

That Is Assuming Both Pictures Are Correctly Exposed & The Lab Actually Got The Colors Right.
Seeing 99% Of Labs Don't Print Colors Accurately, You Will Always See Significant Differences Even With The SAME Negative/Slide Digital File At The SAME Lab.
Add To The Elixir Old Faded Image, Color Shift, Emulsion Deterioration & This Is The Result You See.
AFAIK Delta Has NEVER Been As Light As The 747 Pic You Showed. Cripes Man Look At The Bleached Grass! OVEREXPOSED IMAGE.
The 737 Pic Appears Slightly UNDEREXPOSED With Some Color Shift.

I have the IF200 737 and compared it to the HE DC-8 and there is a remarkable difference in the blue colours, to the point where I was disappointed in the 737.
