Default Herpa Delta MD-11

The best part of this livery was the black nose.

Glad to see that its the same mould as the LH Cargo MD-11F, but I'll wait for the HG's to come out. Can hardly wait to get that SR MD-11.

Besides the Garuda RS/SM MD-11, I don't have any other one...Looking forward to getting one with gears, but will have to wait for the right one. Nearly had the LH MD-11F, but could not go through with the deal. Would there ever be a Finnair MD-11. Does Alitalia still fly theirs....Even a FedEX MD-11 would be a nice addition. (Of course all must have gears!!)

You may disregard my ? above. They were put into service in 1990 and taken out of service in 2004.

Delta was also in service between L.A. and Hong Kong flying MD-11, but pulled off towards the end of 1995 in just few months. Perhaps due to the distance involved being at the extreme limit of the MD-11.

I liked the MD-11, but tri jets became extinct once the twin jets take over and the performance of the MD-11 did not live up to its promise.

airbusroller, how do u like this model? Did it meet or did it not meet your expectation?

I've been wanting this model Delta Widget MD-11 for a very long time. But the D E L T A font and its placement concern me a little...

Thanks in advance for your input as always!

Overall I was very pleased with the model. I know the issue was brought up before of the Delta placement, but its no big deal and one can hardly notice. As we all know this is the second MD-11 Herpa has released previous to the Lufthansa Cargo edition. There are some improvements to the Delta version that annoyed me on the Lufthansa edition. For example, the cowling on engine #1 and #3 engine are larger and have a larger radius fan, and also the rubber wheels add to the detail. I also love the fact the a/c comes with antena on the top and bottom. If the only thing holding you back is the Delta word issue, then I would suggest you overlook this and obtain the model. I have been a huge fan of the Widget livery and don't regret buying this model. I have been saving my money for the Widget L-1011 from Inflight 200, which will compliment the MD-11 and the DC-9 well. I hope this helped jasonsw.

Do you see any other flaws within the aircraft? I'm interested in making this my next purchase (along with an HG Air Canada A345), and just wanted to reaffirm my thoughts as to whether or not this would be a good model.

Unless there's a KLM or TG MD-11 coming out by HG (after scouring the forums, I haven't seen any mention of these), this will probably be my MD-11.

Thanks for your reply!

I just wish the #2 engine had an actual spinning fan. If you are a fan of Delta I would suggest you obtain the a/c. But if you just like the MD-11 I would wait to see what else comes out this year. Now that the mold exists, I am sure Hogan and Herpa will be releasing many more new livery's. A KLM version would be a for sure sell out if were to be released.

I just wonder when HG will release the models. I've seen reports of March release dates, but nothing so far.

Do you think that HG will release an MD-11 in the Widget livery? Maybe to fix the font or something?

I totally agree - it's a great model. It's "parked" next to my IF200 Delta DC-9-30 and Herpa Delta DC-8-51. NONE of these models are perfect, but they sure look nice. Then again, no model is perfect unless you're a master builder and can do a lot of scratch building. I'm not, so it's diecast or plastic 1/200 for me.

The Airplaneshop has this Delta MD-11 listed for an October release. This better not be a Qantas A380 deal, were the same exact model could have been had for half the price.
