I'll be waiting for someone to get this as well to see if it looks like the one that Tapemeister posted.
Might buy the Qantas one in the meantime...so much cheaper... |

Not that I want to buy SQ A380 but I wonder if my local SIA office might have one available.

That's, along with an Emirates A380, are on my wish list. I really, really want those 2. But if I convert the SIA model into Aussie dollars it works out to be $102-00. Then you have your delivery... A bit too much for me.

Hi Guys,
Just collected mine, bought it onboard the aircraft inflight sales. Same as Tapemeister's model, no engine logos. Lovely, one more A380 ( finally an accurate SQ A380 model ) to my collection. Packaging similar to MAS A380 box size and layout inside. Hurray !!

and how much was it onboard? discounted? i know some airlines discount models bought inflight.
$78USD shipped is just too expensive if bought from krisshop and shipped for this model. Last edited by B-16707; 03-10-2008 at 03:19 AM. |

OK guys, here is the comparison of both the older Hogan version & the latest one:
The KrisShop Inflight Duty Free magazine was posting an older version. ![]() The one they are selling on board with all the transparent sealed, I said if I open but not satisfy with the quality, can I exchange another one but they said no, once open it, you have to buy it, no matter the painted was falling off. ![]() The flat box looks like Risesoon to me... ![]() The back side of the box. ![]() ![]() ![]() The older Hogan version. ![]() The back side of the box older Hogan version. ![]() & the thickness of this box looks like a regular Hogan A380 release, which is the similar size of Airbus A380 House Color, AF A380, QF A380 etc... ![]() ![]() The 2 together for comparison, the top is the older one, the bottom is the current one. You probably notice the bottom current model has many windows covered up on both upper deck & the main deck, mainly for the toilets in between 2 sections of the deck. ![]() As you can see the bottom current model has only 1 window after the last upper deck door. The 9V-SKA registration printed at the bottom one (towards the rear of the aircraft, a bit hard to see)

As you can see the current one on the right got the windshield wiper on the cockpit window.
![]() The left current model had more detail printed at the back of the APU. ![]() You can also notice the current model at the bottom had the red fin painted on the wings, detail painted wings, no logos on the engines, & the engines were painted in grey instead of white. ![]() The tail cheat line becomes horizontally cut off, detail coroguard at the wings. The older version didn't painted the inner winglet. ![]() The current model had winglet painted but a bit sloppy... ![]() Old engines. ![]() Current engines. ![]() ![]() ![]() The older landing gear on the left, the current landing gear on the right with "KA" on the nose gear cover. ![]() The older display stand on the left, the current display stand on the right.

There is another official model made for Singapore out there. I have one here in my collection, email me tomorrow and i will post photos. I have the official A380 in 1:200 and 1:400 - both in the inflight boxes. I believe these were the models given to those onboard the first flights..

That packaging is identical to the type the MAS models come in. These is known as inflight boxes and are called as such to save space if ever carried on board the a/c.

What mode of shipping do they use and how long did it take to arrive? Regular air mail or UPS/DHL?

1 SGD (singapore Dollar) = 0.794652 USD At that price I'm getting one too! I thought it was much expensive, I have no idea where I'm gonna put all these 388... |

Lol, none of us realised it was SGD $79. It appears to be around USD $56-$57, the average price of a HG A380. I ordered one too.

I just tried ordering one from Kris Shop, but had no luck. On checkout, the website only gave me 2 options for buying it, both of which require you to be on a SQ flight. You could either buy it and have sent by mail provided you have a reservation on a SQ flight, or you could pre-order it in advance of your flight and pick it up onboard. How did you guys get around flying SQ to get one?

Thanks to Diecaster for throwing up snapshots comparisons of the old and current models.
The current was actually good. regardless of the sloppy paint job on the inner side winglets. Otherwise it's pretty detailed. |

I didn't see that option that you must 'fly' SQ in order to be able to get one. I simply ordered it online and got an e-mail confirmation instantly that my order was received and processed. Try again.

A friend of mine just flew on the real thing from SIN to SYD in business class and he said it was like being in a fine hotel for 7 hours. I'll get to see it on the ramp at LHR on the 27th, but I probably won't ever get to fly on it. Next up is the QF 380. I'm buying a lot lately!

I first thought I wouldn't like the HE QF A380, as I was not too fond of the new colours and the HG A380 itself (those tiny cockpit windows). Now that I have it, I think it's beautiful...However it was bound to be damaged, and now even with a mended wingtip it's still holding it's grace! I'd recommend anyone to get one asap!

I just got mine from UPS today... only 8 days from ordering to receiving it. Not bad. The box was slightly crushed, but the model inside is in perfect condition. My heart was racing as I opened the box. What an awesome model.
It's interesting to compare the A380 to the 747-400, in terms of size. I was epxecting the A380 to be bigger than it is. I didn't get to see it last week at LHR, I'm going to look for it again this week.

OMG I can't believe. I received my model today via UPS, and there was 120 PLN taxes! It is about 53 (fifty three!!!) USD!!!
I have phoned to customs office to explain the situation and they said that there is additional 100 SGD for shipping by courier :O The additional 100 SGD was for UPS as they said! What is more I have not any invoice from Singapore. Only polish duty invoice with worth declared 109 SGD, and added 100 SGD from nowhere :/ I have no idea what's the matter! Model is not bad, howewer, it cost me total... 152 USD... ![]() ![]() |

I don't get it. Do you mean the Polish customs valued the model at SGD $109 and then added a further SGD $100 and not $79 which is the actual total value of the model? Do they charge duty on shipping costs as well?
I'm sorry to say this but I think you were taken for a major ride by your customs department. When I got my model, I don't recall if there was an attached invoice but mine didn't come via UPS but by some other courier company and I had to pay a total of USD $9 only in duty. Today I received 4 Hogan models from the US and had to pay a total of $1.50 in duty only! If the Krisshop invoice was missing then it was the Polish customs who made sure it went missing. All my MAS models arrived via UPS and there was a complete UPS invoice as well as the original MAS invoice attached and I have never had to pay more than $10 in customs duty. I think you should call up the customs department again and ask them for a breakdown of the charges and ask them what is the duty structure for such items being imported into the country. This doesn't seem quite above board to me.

Yes... 152 USD... It is what polish bureaucracy means. I exactly don't know who took my money and for what...
53$ for a 'plastic plane toy' as it was declared?![]() In my opinion Customs thought that 109 SGD was only price of this model without shipping and they added 100 SGD as expected rate of shipping... Finally, starting from this price (209 SGD) they calculated customs and added 22% VAT... In customs office they say that I must call UPS, whereas UPS says that they paid duty in advance for my item and I had to return them on delivery... I am confused ![]() At least the model is beautiful, howewer, lighter than I expected... there are two photos: ![]() Last edited by skyeurope737; 04-03-2008 at 03:33 PM. |
