That is incorrect SGD $79 is the price of this model. Print out a copy of the Krisshop catalog and send it to them if necessary. They just jacked up the price intentionally. Also shipping charges if pre-paid are not subject to customs duty, as least where I am its not.

Ask them where they got the figure of SGD $109 from. They are obliged to give you an itemised invoice. Even the package I received today for which I only had to pay USD $1.50 in customs duty had an itemised invoice showing every single charge which came to a total of $1.50.

I see you also have the Premier Planes LOT 763. I love that model. Excellent mould and very well detailed.

I am affraid how much tax would be charged for my next three Hogan models from US which I ordered few days ago... I will keep you posted...

In Poland are two fees on overseas items (non from EU): custom fee and VAT. Custom fee is nothing but they sum up shipping fee, items worth and custom fee and from this rate calculate 22% VAT... It is nightmare, howewer, I was prepared to pay about 20 $... but not 50$...
Yes, PP's B763 is one of my favorites! If only it had landing gear...

So that means they charge duty on shipping costs as well. Talk about daylight robbery.

What is more, I am not sure why they added 100 SGD and I have not original or copy of Krisshop invoice!

Well, I can relate to this problem somehow...

Here you pay duties based on different levels and at different times, so a model price would escalate sharply if the process is not managed by someone who knows. Here is an exmple:

Model cost: $25
Shipping: $15
Total CIF: $40

Duties 30%: $12
Subtotal: $52
VAT 19%: $9.88
Grand Total: $61.88 (up to this point you are paying $21.88 extra)

Customs agent: $15

Total you end up paying $36.88 extra on duties, taxes and fees... on a $25 model. That is if you get your invoice, on the contrary customs here are not very "frisky" on assumptions, they'll qoute things very accurately so no "undervaluation" is always possible.
that is where the money goes, but the thrill of finally getting your models makes it all worth.. somehow the pain in the pocket just soothes...

Just ask the seller to value your $25 model at $15.

Yes you are right. But why they calculated the VAT and Duties from 209 SGD?

I think that he was ripped off when they "assumed" a cost for shipping, since it is usually easy to read on the airwaybill what the shipping price is... If not, the courier people would be able to provide the customs personnel with a price, wouldn't they?? I mean they are running the process of clearing your stuff... they are the ones at fault here, I would place a formal complaint with the courier and make them refund whatever is charged unfairly.

1.50$ duty? It is unbelievable! I should move to Pakistan
Thanks guys for all help. I am going to explain it with UPS and Customs Department tomorrow. Probably formal complaint will be necessary, but I am affraid that it may takes ages, and finally they wriggle out of mistake...

How in hell is that UPS cannot prove to customs officials wrong about their assumption on the shipping charges?? It just beats me...

Last night I finally received my MAS Temptations package (3 months after I ordered) and was amazed on how cheap UPS has gotten the duties on this one. I paid $30 for 4 models, amazingly cheap for the usual charges...

I guess that sometimes quality is a geographically related issue at some companies, oh well....

well... I sent my order to Temptations 3 months ago... Got a mail confirmation about reception of my order and then silence.
i got tired of trying to get a hold of somebody there... When I saw you guys so happy about receiving your models didn't even comment since I got so sick about chasing this person...

Then one day out of the blue UPS shows up, asks for $30in duties and leave my order... What can I say?

I ordered it a week or two ago, hence why I'm interested in what happened.

Not quite the same, but I have had one or two things like that happen to me also.

Well I ordered the 744, both 777's, the A333 and 734 for a friend of mine about 3 weeks ago and still no show. I wonder why they're so slow in processing orders?

I guess they also must give priority to other orders as well as they probably don't just deal in these mail order items but other pre-flight and inflight sales items as well.

Couldn't be so scary I had ordered them in Canada to be shipped to Pakistan...I did it a week before I left and they only got to me after four weeks and on the evening of the day before I left to return to Canada. Had they been delayed I'd have to pay for extra shipping costs to have them sent to me if and when they did arrive.

Did anybody notice that the Hogan A380 model is wrong balanced?
Rear is probably heavier than front section because when I put it on landing gears it rears up like during take off...
Anybody else spotted it or it is only ailment of my model?

I just got mine today and after building it I did not notice anything wrong with the balance. Did you make sure the inner rear landing gears are facing the right way? I had to double check myself first before placing them in, as the instructions we no help at all.

Anyways, here are my pictures. Almost finished my display!

P.S: Sorry to hear about your customs incident. I had alot of my stuff (models, car parts, etc) shipped using UPS before and I feel your pain. I also had to pay custom fees for mine, but only came up to 8.50USD. Hope you get this issue resolved.

Nice collection Louis777, the shelves are very nice and as I can see, you'd be able to add more as your collection grows... well thought.

Just one thing, You might want to run the electric cable along the back end corner of the shelf, in that way one does no get to see the cable on the side.... It makes it look a little more neat and organized... sorry about the unasked advice..

Those display units are so amazing....Yet if only they would have had eight levels instead of four....that way you could display 16 gorgeous jets instead of 8 with two of those together.....I wonder if there is a way to improvise?

Is that an Thai Airbus A340-500 or A340-600? Love the way you have displayed together your 1:200s with the 1:400s.

Wow great collection Luis777! Thanks for the A380 inspection. Only my model must be wrong balanced in this case as I am sure that inner rear landing gears are ok.
You have exactly the same models which I am now looking for. First will be HG B777-300 JAL I have just ordered from the UK, A340-500 Thai is in parcel coming from US... I am affraid how much the duty will be. I already have also the same A340-600 FM. Then I am going to buy B744 Lufthansa (Herpa) and B773 EVA...
A346 Cathay HE from CXcitement also would be great, but I am affraid about the duty from Hong Kong...

1:200Freak the A340 Thai seems to me like a -600 version. It is Flight Miniatures. I have the same model.

Don't hesitate...with the A346s leaving the fleet, you just might not get them later...I have it ...and honestly it's the best from the Cathay fleet, 1:200s that is

Thnx for the comments.

1:200Freak: Interesting idea. Im pretty sure you could do something like that if you were good with your hands. You'd have to find a way to get more of those support beams on there. The additional glass pieces you could get any glass shop to cut.

The display cases are actually from IKEA. Cost $66 or $88. something along those lines. not too bad. And that is a TG Airbus 346.

skyeurope737: I got most of my 200s from my local aviation store. I got the CX A346 from late400starter. Contact him and see if he can do anything for you.

If we are talking about how much we've payed:

I have just got a letter from a courier company. The model has, err, landed at Heathrow, and I've got to pay £12.42 (USD 24.43, SGD 33.13) for it to be delivered. Steep, but it is 400 odd miles.

I have an itemised bill with it also. I had:

Freight charges £7.55 (USD 14.85, SGD 20.14)
VAT value adjust £6.69 (USD 13.16, SGD 17.84)
Invoice total £39.63 (USD 77.94)

And what is £39.63 in SGD??

$105.80

Almost the $109 quoted elsewhere, and it is mentioned, but I can't see any mention of $3 or $4 kicking about.

Also, the total doesn't come to 39.63, but 43.84 if the model is 79SGD, or £29.60, giving a saving of £4.21. No mention of that either.

It's all tiny amounts, I'm not bothered, merely curious.

Anyway, the Customs value is £47.18 (USD 92.81, SGD 125.84) and both the VAT and Licence value is £53.87 (USD 105.97, SGD 143.69).

The worrying thing about this (except for my dubious maths) is that my name and address seem to be spelled differently on each sheet and on one I am down as living in London!
Seemingly a Glasgow postcode is for London. Oh well.
Even the courier company cannot get it right.
Like I say, they have my postcode though, so I should get it. Hopefully.

Oh yeah, and they can't even spell Krisshop correctly either.

You will get it, no question, perhaps it takes a couple phonecalls to make arrangements with the courier, but it will arrive....

About the spelling... you're at a english speaking country... imagine things when you live here. A spanish, non english speaker customs agent that sees some chinese names, addresses and stuff.... it's a nightmare!

I have been out most of the day (single sculling, etc), but I saw I had an e - mail from them saying along the lines of:

'we have been trying to contact you, please give us your correct details'

..... well, that's the first I've heard of it, but quite frankly, looking at the invoice, it doesn't surprise me much!

I put it all correctly on the website, I even checked!

They were informed that when I replied.

Cruel maybe, but hey, it isn't my fault, even if I do happen to have a VERY unusual second name ....

Yesterday I received SM A340-500 Thai, HG A380 House colors and HG A332 Swiss. There was duty as I expected... 35$
But it is better to pay 35$ for three models than 53$ for only one...

If anyone is looking/wants the A380 model I have a friend that is flying on SQ and can pick this up for you. There is a 10.00 USD handling charge over the in-flight price and model will be shipped from US. If interested please PM. Thanks.

Got mine today!!

Sat up beside the Malaysia one now.

The parcel was a bit battered, but the model box was still wrapped up in it's cellophane, and was spotless.
The winglets are ok on this one, but there is a small scratch/scuff on the nose (hardly noticeable, but still, Grrr!). Oh well, I'm just glad to have finally got the damned infernal thing!!

All I need now is the new Phoenix 200, 787 beside it and that will be me with SIA methinks (I have a Dragon wings 1:400 A340 called Celestar that I bought from someone on here ages ago, a corgi 1:400(?) model of G-BOAD in the half Negus/SIA livery, and a MSA 707 for good measure and for a link to Malaysia).

The stand seems to lurch over more than the Malaysia 380, and quite noticeably too. I just hope it doesn't fall over!

Erm, on mine, the way the holes and the 'pegs' are placed, it can only go in one way round.

Like I say, mine BANKS like the Swiss.

All HG models bank slightly to the left.

Rear is probably heavier than front section because when I put it on landing gears it rears up like during take off...
Anybody else spotted it or it is only ailment of my model?
Not just you, mine does that also.

Yes I know, but the other '380 and the Concordes I have, only bank slightly, if at all.

It is now on top of my wardrobe along with quite a few other of the big models, so from up there, it looks quite spectacular as it wheels round!

..... well, Ok, it will once I've sorted it all out
