I am very confused. What is the difference between a 747-800 and a 747-400? They look exactly the same! It doesnt look like a stretched version up top, and i thought Boeing abandonned that idea when the whole UHCA idea thing was going on between them and Airbus. Can someone tell me the difference?

, one of the most obvious things. The wingtips are raked. The upper deck definitely looks stretched, and the engine nacelles are different from other jets...The Boeing 787 has the same look I think.. But I'll leave the other experts here to fill you in with more of the specifications. |

![]() you seriously dont think its stretched on top? probably gotta go check your eyes sir. nacelles are the entire casing holding and covering the engines. those triangles at the end are noise reducing chevrons, i assume they mix airflow differently so its less noise in the cabin and perhaps more aerodynamic. those GEnx engines are also larger than the current GE, RR or PW engines personally there, i have no idea what you are referring to. im guessing youre referring to the fan cone.

hmmmm now that i look at it more carefully there definitely is a bigger top and i have now leared what nacelles are. they're the whole entire covering of the engine right?(the painted part of the engines in this case). and yes B-16707 you are indeed a demi-god and i idolise you. you and your airport are an inspiration and i hope to one day have an airport half as good as yours.

For the record, it's not called B747-800 but rather B747-8IC (pax) and B747-8F (cargo).

you are referring to the noise-reducing chevrons ... they cause interference patterns in the air which help muffle the noise of the exhaust |

Good to hear that! There's a lot of info on their website...the same can be said about Airbus too.
