Default SM PIA 772 'Corporate' version

Went to visit a friend today and about a week back he was visiting the PIA head office where he knows alot of people and mentioned to one of the airline executives that he'd love a model of the 777 and there and then, a phone call was made and in 10 mins this materialised. Its the SM PIA 772LR with the 2 optional tails. As is known, SM/RS messed up by adding the ER wings to what is supposed to be an LR model, but either way I was very surprised to know about this. PIA also treats this model QR style, only to their select agents and corporate executives but were kind enough to allow SM/RS to offer them retail as well. I took these 2 pics at my friends place:

I guess you'll be getting one, huh? I wonder if the retail version will have the wood base? (Not that it matters. Just curious.)

I already have it. Got it over 2 years ago as its available everywhere. I have both the SM version which is this one as well as the RS version which has the corporate flag livery on the tail and no landing gears. I have ordered 2 sets of detailed 77W wings from Airkuro for both models to make them into correct LR's. The retail versions don't have the wood stand.

Wow, They sent a -200LR model with non-raked wingtips ?

One should go and order the HG gears as well. I think the SM 777 gears are hideous.

Ah only in those lands do these things happen....it's like having your Genie with it's magic lamp..."You have three wishes..what will they be... "

Moin, you didn't answer my question in another thread about the two tails actually being on the Boeing 777-300ERs (AP-BHV & AP-BHW) and not on the Boeing 777-200LR itself...That would be another error on the part of RS/SM.

These models were made when PIA hadn't even taken delivery of the 77W's. They'd be perfect for a PIA 77W if ever one was made but that would probably come with its own set of tails. The 772ER's and 77L's are supposed to be getting these provincial tails soon once the a/c have undergone their C checks.

When talking about replacing the SM/RS landing gear with Hogan's are you just talking about the wheels or the whole landing gear assembly.
The nose gear of the SM/RS 777's is horrible.

It's not too pricey really...going for around CAD 29/- I think should be easily available at any store. What's really cool are the "two tails" you can have two different planes (though not at the same time) by just switching the planes

Just the wheels only.

The wheels are fine.. But I would say, not only the wheels, I would change the entire gear set including the struts.

Yes the nose gear and strut assembly of the RS/SM models may be horrible and rather crude but if you have the KLM, SIA or QR 777's you'll notice a considerable difference in the nose gear assembly as compared to older models. They're more refined and toned down and with a bit of filing off the rough edges and a little detailing with a little paint, will look a whole lot better.

I'll post the pics of my 'detailed' PIA 772LR's once I receive the detailed wings and have gone through other details also.

You can use the 'before' pics from the above model for reference as I've already detailed part of mine and once I completed it, will post it here on this thread.

Air Kuro, Thanks for showing us the new gear. I don't want to be picky, the old gear had a correct width on the hydraulic rod/strut, and those torque links on the sides are too long, they corrected that on the new nose gear, however now they just made the lower strut fatter. Sigh, I gues it cannot be perfect.

Me too. Don't want to get something and then have to upgrade it later. I'll just wait.

Same here. It's just as bad as reading an airline magazine, about an airline having an aircraft in the fleet :example a "A345" and in the next magazine, you read that they opted to change the fleet of A345's with B772LR's instead. Same deal, We want the correct aircraft.lol
