Default A380

Pretty soon I may start considering the purchase of one 1:200 A380. Even though I'm no big fan of the a/c, I have it in 1:400 in the colors of EK, QR, EY and MAS and just picked up the 1:250 Wooster version in EY colors, so I might as well add a 1:200 as well but I cannot decide which airline to get it in.

The Airbus house colors, QR old colors and AF are out of the question and neither am I too keen on SIA and LH, so what does that leave out...Qantas, China Southern, Virgin, KE, EK and MAS? From what I know, the Qantas is available in both HE and SM/RS, the China Southern in HE, VS in SM/RS, KE in SM/RS, EK in SM/RS and MAS in HG. I'm drawn to selecting Qantas as they're due to receive their first a/c this year and they've changed their livery, but from who can we expect to see the first QF A380 in the new livery with a correct registration from? Does HG/HE do a better A380 vs SM/RS?

Thanks alot. That does help clear out alot.

However, it is possible that RS/SM may upgrade their A380 as they did with the 777 but for now the HG does indeed seem the better option of the two. I can also see SM/RS offer the A380 in a wider choice of airlines as compared to HG who might only stick to the basics being AF, QF or whoever they have a license with.

Didn't someone recently post a pic of the HG A380 in the new revised Qantas livery with the correct registration for their first a/c? Now that is something I could seriously consider. The only other option worth considering is the HG MAS A380.

I'm missing the A380 in EK, EY and QF colours in 1:400 scale. These three are my hot ones on the wishlist. Anyone can help me to get those, Please drop me a link or in my PM.

Moin
, How about in the smaller scale?, I got an LH A380 (OG) 1:400 on my traderlist. PM me if interested.

SteveJ did post a Hogan QF A380...

http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...ntas-a380.html

However my computer doesnt seem to load the pictures..
Hopefully it works on your end, can you try out this link ??

If that doesn't work. How about a Herpa Qantas A380 with the new 2008 titles and bigfoot scheme .??
Qantas A380 arrives in new livery.

I'm done with the A380 in 1:400 and don't think I'd want any more although the GJ QF version in the new livery is most tempting. I have the EK version by DW and the QR, EY and MAS by GJ. The GJ A380's are easily available in all the airlines they have released them in. The DW EK might be a little hard to find now.

Now that HE QF A380 is what I'm talking about but imagine the size of that box!! Any chances HG will release the exact same thing as it would definately be available for a cheaper price and more practicle packaging.

Thanks, I'll try with PHX A380's, I prefer their mould instead, although I got a big fleet of GJ A380's...
If they turn out to be deleted,
Moin, if you want pictures of Qantas by Hogan in 1:200, Try to send SteveJ a PM.

I love my RS/SM A380s better to Hogans even though the latter definitely has a lot more details.

Moin, may I suggest the RS/SM TG A380?

http://www.skymarksmodels.com/cataloglarge/skr331.jpg

It's a nice mold with nice printing - matches your TG A345 perfectly!

Yes its nice but after seeing KAI's comparison shots of the RS vs HG A380, I'm leaning more in favour of HG and seeing that QF is next in line to receive theirs, and that too with a revised livery, I'm even more inclined to get that, but where to get it from???

Well I've narrowed my choice of a 1:200 A380 to the following:

Herpa Qantas (Newest version, but available where?? Will Hogan be releasing one as well?)

RS/SM Qatar (The database here shows a second version having been released in the new 2006 colors which should be the new QR billboard livery, but no one apparently has it. Does it actually exist or is it yet another 'you know what'???).

Hogan MAS (From the MAS store).

If you must go for a Hogan A380, then your best bet would be the Air France...It's just gorgeous, the details take your breath away! I'm not big on AF or the cockpit windows on the HG version, but I can tolerate them on the AF A380. I wouldn't really suggest the HG Malaysia A380, unless you want to keep to fleet commonality with the HG versions for all of them. If you really want to feel like you are holding an A380 then the QF RS/SM version with the revised colours will be your best choice. Hopefully the wings will have some additional detailing like the (new) SQ A380 does. The older Qantas version already came with rotating engine blades. Hope I didn't confuse you even more now?

sir, all hogan and herpa a380s are the same with the same detailing (basing this info on past releases). well minus the exclusives like the SQ a380 which doesnt have the wing details.

The MH A380 seems to lack what the AF A380 offers....It just's so boring in comparision.

Thanks Randy. Just ordered one for around $43. Their site mentioned it as being on backorder and I gave the shipping address of a friend there in the US whom I'll be visting in the summer. Beats having to pay close to $80 for the Herpa version when they're basically one and the same thing.

I wonder if Hogan or Herpa will ever do one in the Etihad or Qatar new livery? Even though I promised myself ONLY 1 A380 in 200 scale, I'd be very tempted to get one of those. Even the one MAS is offering is tempting to me.

kinda small no doubt but the other details and accuracy of the mold itself helps me oversee the small cockpit windows easily!

now im thinking of selling off my emirates a380...the fully upgraded one....

Well I'm not so keen on the 744F as I already have the Jade, TNT and forthcoming Great Wall which is enough for the time being, but as far as the A380 is concerned, I asked for it first.

Actually to be honest, the reason I'm showing so much interest is because of the detailing you've done to it. Saves me having to do anything to it. Had you not done those mods, I probably wouldn't have shown this interest.

I also notice that the SQ A388 9V-SKA pics posted by 'Tapemeister' show that the emergency exit door fully-printed and not partially-printed as in earlier HG A380 releases.

I'm really glad to see that fixed and not to mention the extra details too! It will definitely be my first A380!!! Thanks again!!!
