Those people at EADS/Airbus will be very interested to hear your reasons for saying that.

The ONLY critique of the model from my viewpoint is that the model is balanced TOO equally about the main landing gear (axis), and the slightest "bump" of my shelf sends the plane into the "VMU" state.

For those who aren't familiar with this term, VMU, is by definition Velocity Minimum Unstick, with is the lowest speed the plane is able to become airborne whilst the tail is dragging on the runway.

Airbus and Boeing all test their airliners at such a speed, and it's usually a very interesting test, and "sparks" great interest!

Here's footage of a 777 VMU test from the early 1990s:

Thumbs up Re: Just Arrived. Phoenix 1/200 B787 Dreamliner Rollout

Mine arrived yesterday

Superp model, no problems with the balance neither with the wing flex (it comes without fuel )

And it is a model of an aircraft which exists (and may fly some day ). But it exsit and therefore it is no fantasy.

Highly recomended to everyone as they are selling fast

VMU - in other words : AS.S - SITTER

I hope you find a way to counterweight the uneven balance.

I am so familiar with this problem, regularly of old BB 747's, It rests on the maingears, the elevated nosegear would be about 1-2 metre in real life. Way uncool on a static display.

I heard from one my teachers that there was a Continental 777 that had a tailstrike and cracked its rear pressure bulkhead on takeoff when the dragging happened. Boeing helped them repair the plane and it was fixed and back in service.

Is there a stand available for purchase that would go with this model?

The Herpa Premium A300 stand is a perfect match for the Phoenix 1/200 787,
although it may be hard to find and pricey.

There are no provisions built into the model even if you found a stand.

No provisions are needed. The stand holds the model by its main gear which fit into the cutouts on the stand. Same as the Herpa A300 for which the stand was made.

Got mine about a week ago. Very impressive model.
I've decieded to disregard that facts how the wing is flexed even with gears and etc... (By the way, if you compare with HG's flexed wing, this PH's wing is almost perfect I think) It's just impressive to see a brand new Boeing jet all made by metal, rubber tires, steerable nose gear, engine details and other tiny detail printings on the fuselage... I got it in good price (NOT overpriced) and very happy with it. I certainly do hope to see this bird in the air soon...

I have both Herpa and Phoenix 787.

I must say that nothing can beat shiny metal of Phoenix Dreamliner. :-)

Nose and engines are more accurate than on Herpa model. It has also antennas and much more details like airlines stickers, RR logo on engines, pitot imitations... .

Flexed wings, OK, some people may not like it, but it doesn't disturb me.

Currently my Herpas 787 has yellowing effect on its fusselage, and tires are broken in the same way as it was discussed in previous treats. So I don't recommend this to anyone.

For anyone interested in this model, the following retailers in Germany have it (that I know of):
- Aviation center Berlin has the house colors version available for €79.90 (approx. $US125)
- Aviation Megastore has it for alot cheaper going for €50.38 (before VAT) coming to €59.95 with VAT (approx. $US92)

Not sure about shipping. I know to Europe it's affordable, but to the states it is probably more.

Hope this helps!
