Default Having custom models made

Hi there,

For a dutch foundation I am trying to find a factory that can make custom models, just a simple text print and a logo print on the side will do just fine.
I am talking about 150 models.

Does anybody here know what factory will do this, and where I can contact them, for price indications?

Thanks a lot

such small quantity in 200 scale could be a problem..I know Atlantic Models in Miami Florida will do that quantity but perhaps in a larger scale...Try them..

its gonna be super expensive as most places will require at least 1000. Risesoon will do it for you too even at low quantities

$450 each??? Lol, in that case we could all have the Qatar Airways A346, A333's, A332's and the 773ER made as thats how much some of them have ended up on ebay for.

You could try Herpa.
They offer individual liveries based on existing moulds beginning with 1000 models per batch.
They roughly charge between 50 € and 100 € per model then.

Greetings

Lol if only we could round up that many people here who'd be willing to buy say around 6 each. Then we could each keep one and flog the rest on ebay. It would be a DAC member exclusive. But then the real question is, what would the subject be?

Believe it or not, thats the exact same model I was thinking of! The China Eastern 2010 A346. But that would have to be by Hogan.

I'm sure HG won't charge $30 or $35 per piece. The actual cost must definately be lower, but if we each end up buying 6 of them for around $20 to $25 each, then we'd to find 200 ppl willing to do that!! However, put them up on ebay and they'll definately sell for over $50 each.

Any A346 model from HG or HE is very much welcomed, includng the MU A346 mentioned above!

Sure, the cost per model is definitely lower but you'd be surprised to know the actual cost per model charged by HG.

That's because Master Bader's models are hand-made and he once told me at a show that the model will only be commissioned once you placed an order for it and that they don't keep a lot of stock items.

I don't mind, but my biggest concern is a dispute arising over the subject matter to be produced.

Personally, I'd rather not have something 'common' or 'run of the mill' which has been produced multiple times in various scales including 1:200 and something that might not be produced by anyone. By that I mean the airline and not the a/c. By airlines I'm talking about AA, CO, DL, AC, BA, VS, KLM, AF, LH, AZ, JAL, ANA, KE, QF, ANZ, EK etc. The market is already saturated with those airlines.

Here is what I had in mind:

China Eastern A346 (Shanghai Expo 2010): Photos: Airbus A340-642 Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

National Air Services A346: Photos: Airbus A340-642X Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

Jet Airways 773ER: Photos: Boeing 777-35R/ER Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

Etihad A340-500: Photos: Airbus A340-541 Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

I selected the EY A345 as it has very few operators as compared to the A346 and the A345 has only been released in SIA, EK, AC and TG, and AC doesn't even have this a/c anymore and I'd love to see this on the Hogan mould.

lol. 100 models from a company like risesoon would still cost around the $300-$400 range per. I will get a quote from them should we get 100 orders for ONE certain model. until then, im going to chill here doing nothing heh

We can try with Hogan as well but that would have to be 1000 pieces at least. If, for the sake of argument, Hogan sells us each model for $20, we could each buy around 5 for a total of $100 but would we be able to find 200 people here willing to buy 5 models each? I'm sure some retailers or those who sell on ebay would be interested in buying maybe even more than 5 to sell onwards as this would be an exclusive model, exclusively for DAC200 members.

If it were to be the NAS A346, then you've got an exclusive model of an exclusive a/c, exclusively for DAC200 members. Can't get more 'exclusive' then that now can you?

It all needs to be properly set up and decided once and for all that yes, its a good idea, its doable, whether HG is agreeable to do them for us and charge us cost price, what the subject matter will be, who will be agreeable to house the lot and distribute them to each member and most importantly, commitments from fellow members that yes, for this price we are agreeable to purchase at least 5 models.

Not trying to crash the "party" but I'd think HG will only do it only if they have the licencing agreement with that particular airline.

Let's pick MU A346 "2010 Shanghai World Expo" for example. First, they will have to obtain the licence from MU and then the World Expo licence from the organisers.

As for the NAS A346...it will be an awesome model to have but not sure if they will even consider granting licencing rights for their models. Perhaps someone can try to contact them:

National Air Services (NAS)

I was about to bring up the licensing issue as well and am glad you did. Who would it be left to, to get the license, us or HG, as I'm sure HG would know who to contact and how to go about it.

I'm sure NAS won't have issues granting a license. They gave one to DW for their 1:400 A346 so why a 1:200 should be any different? They might even put in a request to give them a few models for themselves.
