Although the Lufthansa livery is pretty boring I do like this one.

Just because I live next (about 15 miles) to "Minden".

Is this the same model available at LH World Shop? Same packaging/box too? I have to get this model to complement my LH A340-311 "Koblenz" [D-AIGH].

Yes, it is the same model - however if the box is also the same I don´t know.

Have you noticed the printed details (door handles, blind window frames, ...)? This is an awful improvement over the A340 and A380 Herpa offers.

Hello everybody,

Having seen the first pictures, I decided to swap 14.000 of my Lufthansa-miles for Herpa's latest beauty and was rewarded with a parcel from LH-Worldshop yesterday. In opposite to the retro-A321, the packaging is Herpa-standard.
Enjoy the pictures, but please ignore the landing gear - I couldn't resist to replace the bogies and wheels with spare parts from the Premium series as soon as I got my hands on this model.

Greetings to all other enthusiasts!

Hello 777ER,

Technically, it is possible to upgrade the main gear of Herpa’s/Hogan’s A330/340 with the Herpa 747-wheel-kit. Nevertheless, you will have to look for an alternative wheel for the nose gear as the upgrade-set only contains 18 identical wheels.
Therefore, I replaced the nose wheel with the main gear of a Premium 737 (you can also use the one from the 727) and the main gear with the outer pair of a Premium 747 (including the spring mechanism). To get these spare-parts you can contact Herpa’s customer service.

All you need for the conversion is a very sharp knife, some instant glue and about one hour to do the work. As a result, you get the detailed rubber tires and a working spring mechanism for the main gear.

Bluester,

Herpa has 551175 for an item number and it's called the "Boeing 747 landing gear retrofit set". But it didn't look like it has the spring mechanism that you show in your pictures. How much did the set cost you and what (if any) was the item number so we can ask the Herpa Customer service center?

Incidentally, great job on the mod!

That is a nice looking bird. The details on the 1:200 birds can't be beat as far as I'm concerned.

I may have to my "dealer" about possibly acquiring this one.

The B747 gear retrofit set only contains the rubber tires and wheels. For the spring mechanism landing gear boogie, you will have to sacrifice some parts from your HE Premium model. I don't believe the spring mechanism is for sale but I may be wrong.

I had that in the back of my mind but didn't want to entertain the thought too much. Reason is, I don't have a Premium model to use as parts.

Will have the work it using the Herpa tires and ingenuity to make to happen.
Thanks for the words.

Mr. Frontier,

Where'd you get a 1:200, LH, A340 for US$15.00?
That's a deal.

The spring-loaded main gear for the Herpa Premium 747 is available via the Herpa customer spare-part service for about 15 Euros (at least it was back in 2003).
Unfortunately I don't have any documents left as everything went via email (the contact was Mr. Spectoras).
Sometimes you get yellowed and broken down Premium 747s at ebay für about 35 Euros.

Greetings
Bluester

i have a feeling, i think A330's LH logo under the cockpit is too big, compare to my A343&A346...
