Default Polishing a Phoenix AA 727/chrome

Hello fellow modellers! A friend of mine has one of the Western Models AA 727's with the retro scheme. My question to those out there who have purchased the chrome 727's with both American schemes, has the chrome become a bit dull after time because of touching the plane? Unlike bare-metal foil which is easy to clean, I found this to be a challenge. Can anyone recommend car polish or at least something that can clean chrome without ruining or accidental removal of the AA logos and stripes? Thanks!

window cleaner...diluted preferably. If that doesn't work then I would not mess with it.

Car polish does not really 'clean' anything. It adds a thin coat of wax only.

Hello,

I think WD-40 may work? I have a full size metal knight and I was told to use WD-40 to make it shine. Try it and see. DP

The question I have is, would any polish or cleaning agent be harmful to the colors on the model or remove them?

Another idea, aside from the WD-40 is stainless steel appliance cleaner, it's also an oil type substance

Talking Aluminum Polishing Creme

There use to be on the market a polishing creme that a friend of mine use to use to polish portions of his Harley and so I got some and used it on my aluminum rims on my Chevy Monza and the aluminum rims came out looking exactly like chrome,

However I haven't been able to find it for some years now. It comes in a tooth paste looking tube and is white and you use very little and it WORKS!

However since I haven't tried it on any of my models and if you can find this polishing creme I would experiment with it on another similar surface before actually commiting its use on a model.

This creme may be availiable at a specialty shop. And as I recall it was not cheap.
