Default If200 Ua 744

I've seen the pictures and heard about some of the errors. I have yet to buy this model but was thinking of purchasing one. Question is....is it worth it. For those who have one what do you think. Should i go with a classic AC 747 instead?

I bought one and am very happy with it (minus the minor flaws).

If you save for just a little longer you can buy a used version of the real thing.

Default buy it

I think the model looks great. Its looks very nice next to my INFLT UAL DC10,737-200 and the Herpa 727-200.
I saw the Delta 747-100 at a shop the other week and will probably be buying that as well. I just wish I had more room to display it.

No Star Alliance logo right next to the cockpit of the UA744...is the only mistake I spot so far.

I have yet to buy the perfect model...of course I never aim to...I appreciate them for how well they are made and the effort that goes into them. Remember there is always going to be something...whether an inaacuracy or some gliche due to manufacturing. Yet every model I have gives me extreme enjoyment.

Funbird...the UAL 744 by Inflight is an great model. Beautiful complex scheme, lots of detail, Inflight's first 744. One has to appreciate the little things, like the changes in silver on the leading edge of the vertical stab to the tow bar line on the nose gear doors. When you are dealing with so many complex things, an error or two is understandable...but in the grander scheme, doesn't detract from the model and would not be worth me doing without it.

Go for it!

Very well said. It really makes me mad when some people on this forum b*tch and moan about 1 or 2 very miniscule errors on an otherwise beautiful and very accurate model. No model in this scale will ever be perfect, period. If someone thinks they can do a better job themself than say Inflight200, then by all means, knock yourself out building a Hasegawa.

It's funny, because I consider myself somewhat of a perfectionist and I really have an eye for detail and accuracy, yet I can still overlook small errors that are inevitable and that don't at all detract from the overall appearance of the model.

Now, complaining about something like using the wrong color for the name on the fuselage is understandable, but being so picky about little details like having an extra window blocked out in the last set of windows on the left side of a 747, and not buying the otherwise perfect model because of it, is just ridiculous.

Ok, rant over. BTW nice quote in your sig, Flying Ace.

The model depicted is pre Star Alliance, as it does not carry an antenna that was put into the B747s post Star Alliance. Therefore it does not have the Star Alliance logo.

The only error is it has GE engines instead of Pratt and Whitney.

Other than that it is accurate, and quite beautiful!

I'll post again. That model isn't supposed to have a Star Alliance logo. It's N174UA BEFORE THE STAR ALLIANCE EXISTED.

It's no different than a TWA twin-stripes plane without black stripes on the wings---they weren't always there.

Having the wrong engines is the one serious error it has.

I'll wait for the LH 747-100, TWA 747 stripe or the PA 747-121. The AC looks inviting but I'll have to pass for the time being.
