Anyone see the Inflight200 Pan Am B747 at the L.A. Show? Or, better yet take any pictures they can post?

Not sure of the release date but I do have them up for order on my site.
My guess it will be released sometime in August. At least that's what I'm hoping for. |

Yeah I have no idea why they went for the billboard scheme instead of the 1970 or even early 80's livery. I'll still have to nab one of these however.

Am I the only one who actually prefers billboard colors on the 747?

The billboard scheme is okay but historically it represents the livery Pan Am wore during it's final years. Not nearly as good as the 1970 scheme when PA was THE flag carrier. It's like coming out with a CO 747 model but putting on the current livery instead of the black contrail logo from 1970.

Why not contact Inflight 200? If there is the demand I'm sure that they will add the "original" PanAm livery to the range.
Also, a real candidate for Inflight 200 is an ACCURATE "Air Force 1" (actually a 747-200) complete with flight refuelling nose bulge and numerous antennae! Inflight 200 might respond to sufficient customer demand. A polished metal finish on the lower fuselage/engine rears will be most effective! Cheers!

I'd demand TWA twin-stripes. Final scheme is nice (hope that's the next release, based on the samples shown), but twin-stripe 747 is pretty much THE definitive TWA plane of the late 70's through mid 90's.

These being:
Of course though, these would be too obvious for the manufacturers, and if they did produce them too early in the manufacturing cycle, many collectors would snap them up, and upon future releases of less popular liveries, the collectors may consider not buying them due to limited shelf space and/or budget constraints. So in one sense, it is logical for manufacturers to "jump around" when it comes to livery releases, to keep the collectors "on the edge of their seats" and clamoring for more distinctive releases. That marketing strategy seems to work for me at least!

TWA may have launched it in twin-globe, but they spent many more years in twin-stripe. And all the follow-on/leased ones arrived in twin-stripe. :)
PS--wow, what a concept--major/first operators of a plane for choosing the liveries! ;) I do think 1/200 diecast (what little there is) tends to do that better than 1/400---few if any Pokemons and fantasy planes. Man, if the first 5 Inflight 747's are like PAA, TWA, BA, UAL, and NWA...

As for the BOAC, I would prefer the British Airways red tail livery. As far as the Air France that color scheme would be awesome, along with a B707 and maybe Herpa will also produce the B727, yum yum! I would love an A300 and a Concorde in the delivery colors too. For my money one of the most elegant and simple colors schemes of all time!

What about the other series?
There were rumours about Flying Tigers -200, Ansett -300 (Sydney 2000) and Singapor and BA -400. Gimme the Ansett!!!! |

Might as well, my want-list for each type: (as in, REALLY want, for while there's 30 I'd like, I'd rather have a new house for that much $$$)
-100: TWA twin-stripe -200: NW red/grey -300: KLM o/c Thai -400: KLM o/c UAL grey/blue NW red/grey PS---gahhh! Ansett -300 Sydney. Nobody's going to buy one-offs at this price range. KLM is FAR more famous for stretched-deck non-400 747's, and a gorgeous scheme.
