Default New Inflight 200 B747 Releases

I received an e-mail from aviation retail direct which lists the following upcoming B747 releases in the Inflight 200 series.
It states that they should be available in May and as mentioned in another thread the price should be around GBP 99/170 USD.

B747-100 PANAM billboard
B747-200 Flying Tigers
B747-300 Ansett Sydney 2000
B747-400 BA Wunula tail

Cheers/Mark

Default Who knew?

Who could see this Inflight200 thing getting as big as it has? I figured we'd see another two-or-three model/livery per year range and yet here we are with all kinds of cool stuff on the horizon. It's a great time to be a 1/200 collector, that's all I can say!

Default inflight 200

Well in order to accomodate both the 1/400th and the 1/200 collections it took a little re-arranging of what I wanted/needed to collect and I think that for the moment all is well at hand.

As for inflight I'll collect all they release in PA colors. If something else comes along I'll decide if it fits into the 'mix' of things then I'll buy it. Otherwise no. As for 1/400th I'am very limited as to what I'll be adding to the collection because most of what I need has already come out. Excepting for the AA Convair 990 and a few of the military items.

Later......WR

Default Differences 747-200 & 400

Are the correct wing root and horizontal stabilizer profiles reproduced for the 747-200 and the 747-400 Inflight 200 models please? They are different for the 2 versions.

Cheers!

Always with an eye for detail, Edmund has pointed out something that Herpa/Hogan missed or thought was not important for collectors.
I hope Inflight200 does not forget/ignore that detail!

If you can afford it, its a great time for collectors. Otherwise, its about as likely as acquiring a 1:1 version.

Let's see... If I cancel my T-Mobile, XM, DirecTV, DSL, lose the mortgage and move into a refrigerator box, sell my gas-guzzling SUV and stop buying affordable 1:400s, I might be able to afford one or two. No thanks. You folk can have my share.

170 is a bit stiff for a regular release so one will have to be selective if they want more than just their absolute favorite.

For moi, Im gonna hold out for a SP. The market is already fllooded w/other (albeit plastic) 747 variants.

Now with THAT attitude, how can we expect there to be more demand than supply and have a situation that they sell out before release??!!

Default 747 BA

Since I will have to be very selective due to the 747 prices, I wish they would make the B747-400 BA with the Union Flag Tail. Please! Please Please!

The PanAm is a must for me.
The FLying Tiger might be tempting as nothing like metal to give the right look of metal!

I hope for more retro releases....
I was surprised to see 744's in the list...
it is still a good time for 1/200 collectors. These are pricey but we still get good models from SJ200, Herpa NP, Hogan and some others I forget now, but a Virgin A380 I got made of plastic is quite nice...
I hope Inflight go to early DC8, that is needed more than 747's, at least from my angle...

Agreed, different DC-8 variants, and a B720, retro liveries, I'd love!

Calder Braniff would be great!!!

Default New Inflight 200 747's

These models I know will be very serious contenders to the now rather tired Herpa Premium 747's. "Trust me, I'm a Dr"!

Cheers!

On the 1/400 board I saw this picture, it says it is a inflight200...would like to see the rest of the fuselage to see how this competes with Herpa's Premium line.
I like inflight200s so far, but don't know, w/o transparent windows and other tiny details found on premiums, I think these releases will find their own niche instead of directly competing against Herpa Premiums.

I like what I've seen so far but the choice of liveries is very poor.

Hey Funbird!

Thanks for sharing.

Now, with your artistic eye in mind, what would you like to suggest for the masses???

Regards,

Don

Swissair 1971 scheme
CO black contrail globe

Default My B747-100/200 wishlist

BOAC delivery 747-136 - Pratt engines
BA 747-236 - RR engines
British Caledonian GE Engines

Braniff N601BN Big Orange
Braniff SP
Pan Am SP

Tower Air anyone? Just kidding! Although Inflight could throw in some duct-tape for added authenticity on the Tower 747.

Doc Edmund: I strongly disagree with your assertion that Herpa Premium 747 are "tired". Inflight in metal is going to have a tough job matching Herpa plastic detail for detail. Sprung undercarriage? Transparent windows? Static discharge wicks?

I love my Herpa Premiums, just wish the greenback were stronger to let me buy that cool NZ LOTR, in the meantime I need to investigate new display cabinet(s) to hold all this stuff.

I, too, absolutely love the Herpa 747s except for the yellowing, the inconsistency of production releases and the price. Otherwise, what more could you want.

Having said that, I am very anxiously awaiting the Inflight200 747s, since everything else Don at Jetstreams has done has been first class.

My biggest problem is finding that second job to allow me to buy all these beauties. At any rate, its a great time to be a 1:200 collector.

My second biggest problem is finding enough space to allow me to display all these wonderful 1:200's! I'll need to moonlight just to build an additional annex for them. It is a great time to collect 1:200's! I'll second the kudos for Don @ Jetstreams!

Don't worry about the space to display......do what most of us do and that is to first GET THE MONEY FOR THE MODEL AND BUY IT!

Then once the model is in your pocession store it somewhere. Then and only then worry about where to put it. Nothing worse than to 'clear' the landing area for your model just to find out that by waiting to make room you have lost the model or have to go to ebay and pay a premium price.

These Inflights are really beautiful and if Don dosen't release the PAN AM 747's in both the delivery colors and the 'bill board' then I'll probably have to buy two and have one of them re-done in the the delivery colors. Oh well this is what this collecting is all about. good nite all gots to go.

winged racer ps. happy dreams and happy collecting
