Braniff International N7097 and N7095 have landed
Some folks might hate this color, but I love it. It was such a radical break from the starched and staid images airlines tried to project in the mid 1960s. Turquoise (also called teal or light green) was an original 1965 Alexander Girard color which was dropped two years later by the new ad firm Harper & George.

Ochre was another one of Girard's unusual color choices. In bright light it's actually greenish-brown, but in other types of light it can look brown, tan or gold. Every time we spotted a Braniff -320C at my home town airport it was ochre. It must have been the same plane over and over.

The pale green Inflight has to be the rare one. I think only 50 copies were made.

Re: And it's already expensive....
For those that know of my "reseller ramblings", this is exactly what I dislike about ebay - the ability for resellers to do such dirty deeds. A "Buy it Now" of 10% over retail would be more appropriate.
If anyone is entitled to such a windfall it is the IF200 folks. They have kept the initial sale cost to a respectively affordable level and should be commended.

then they should have made more than 48 ... clearly there is demand ... this is called the free market and suppy and demand ... you should be blaming the schmucks bidding on the plane, not the seller.

As much as I like these. I have settled for a 1:400 version. Since Gemini never went through the whole fleet of these. Anyway. How ever nice I don't see a point in getting them. Would like one as I have an Electra in this color in that scale and a BN II 727. I have that same YS-11 photographed. It does look good. These schemes sure seem like they could have stood the test of time longer. Too bad for the invention of Euro-white.

I think Braniff International could rise from the dead tomorrow, begin flying with a fleet of identical jellybean colors and fit right in to the year 2003. The multi-color theme was brilliant in its simplicity. The design seems as interesting and modern today as it did 38 years ago.
Craig, you have a 1:200 turquoise Electra? Is that Nostalgair/Modelair?
I agree about the original prices Forrest - they are quite reasonable IMO. For $100 you get an accurate metal replica to enjoy for decades to come. I hope Inflight doesn't see all the hype and decide to raise the prices!

That company for the Electra model sounds right!
About the scheme with AC Jazz and Zip using similar ideas I also don't see why not.
I have such a small display area to where I really can't go for as many in larger scales. These beauty things would be nice but too large and too expensive at the moment. Still wanting a Western, Martin M-130, Pan Am.

The light green went for $335, 19 bids
Also, Buchair put up a Panagra Green auction starting at $20 (one bid so far). Be interesting to see how that ends up.

Whew, that's a relief. When the morons start liking Braniff that's when I get worried...
