Braniff International N7102 has landed
This model airplane has blown me away! I've been collecting a lot of years, and this is one of the nicest things I've ever gotten my hands on. Thanks go to Don K. and whoever else is responsible for bringing us these masterpieces. You guys rock!

Yes, the gear is unbelievable. The wheels appear to be the accurate size, and the rubber tires roll easily. Have to be careful not to set it on an incline or it will roll away.
Can anyone explain the small silver antenna-like protrusion less than a third of the way up the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer? It's something I never noticed on the -327Cs until purchasing this model. You can barely see it in my photos - it's easier to see in this one:

Prop jet.
It's the artificial feel pressure sensor. Other than tell you that I have no idea what it does.
On the nose gear I was talking about the nose gear doors. It looks to have the more "conventional" layout with two smaller doors in each side of the nose gear. Versus the earlier layout of the nose gear door aft of the actual gear. Take a look at the other Inflight 707's on the forum.
Later
Chris
PS any chance of a pic of the nose gear doors.

Chris - Impman explained the "Q pot probe" on the 1:1 forum:
"Basicly a pitot probe connected to a bellows which alters the artificial feel on the rudder pedals according to airspeed. The only powered, primary, flight control on the 707 is the rudder, artificial feel prevents the crew from overstressing the airframe at high speed, by increasing the amount of force required to move the rudder pedals at high speed."
Here's some undercarriage detail:

Wow saw your pics of that braniff diecast 1/200. I have never seen a more well constructed 707 model, even the engine pylons are realistic and not fat or oversized like some diecast models and those rubber tires sweeet, forward gear wheels is smaller like the real thing...I have recently put together some 1/400 big bird collection together to go along side my herpa premium sets and saw this. Never thought I would get a BI jelly bean collection but I made the move and bought the whole set including the light green one too, what I like about this jelly bean collection is that it is not a fantasy set, it represented the real thing. I was an infant when Braniff got these delivered, and a kid flying on big orange 747 in the 70's, I remember Braniff very well and this is a great release to have for any collector...forget that a380 stuff dragon came out with and those fantasy concordes yuck, this is the one to have thanks to who ever put this release together, I am still waiting for mine but these pics tell of a great model....Aloha

wow thats and interesting piece of trivia, I read in the braniff org website that honolulu service started with the 707, wow I wish I could see a picture of the 707 in Hawaii when that happened, I was a toddler then...that BI logo on the tail with the American Flag dotting the I gets me right there in the stomache...very patriotic...do you know where there might be more information on Honolulu service, I remember BI big orange 747 flying to Honolulu daily....and seeing that Big Orange plane park at either gate 26 or 27 in the afternoon...what a sight...thanks for the reply, very good information.

George Cearley had a paperbound photobook on Braniff. I've got a copy, I bought about 8 years ago, anyhow he has a black and white shot of the passengers disembarking the inaugural flight. Back then Honolulu didn't have jetways apparently the aircraft looked like they parallel parked alongside the blast fence. In the photo you can also see a PA 707 Clipper. The Braniff flight originated in Atlanta then to Love and finally to Hawaii. I'm not sure if the Atlanta -Dallas segment was flown by a 727-100 or 707. Interesting note in Flying magazine about 10 years ago Len Morgan who was a former BN captain and column writer for the mag told a great story about the Vietnam charters out of Hawaii to South Vietnam. He said how the 707s they flew were operating at their maximum gross weights and thus how painfully long it took the aircraft to gain altitude not to mention how much runway they ate up before rotating.

I still haven't been able to take any good daylight shots of the set but here is an indoor shot of the Yellow N7096 with "special backdrop".

Gray... aka me.
The base is being sold under the InFlight 200 brand and is manufactured by one of DAC's own. Very nice. Jetstreams carries them... not sure if all retailers carrying the IF200 line stock the base?
The backdrop is an old Braniff poster board I aquired at an airliner show.

Inflight 200 B707
This is in fact a very nice model. I was able to get a Boeing 707 Air Force Two from Inflight 200 for a reasonable price at an airshow event during last weekend and I am really impressed. The model is obviously not made of pewter or any other kind of white metal, but traditional zinc die cast, very accurately painted and printed. Exactly as I like it. This strategy of modelling is the future. Consistent high quality at a reasonable price. Go on like this, I will empty my glass cabinets for those models. Hope, they will release another aircraft type soon.

You took the words right out of my mouth flieger. These models are the future. They combine three desirable characteristics: metal construction, accurate details and 1:200 size. I will keep collecting my favorite retro 1:400s (like I could pass up Continental meatballs or PSA anything) but the main focus will now be on the future
Air Force One 26000 is now on its way to my home. I had no intention of adding it to the collection until I ran across some great close up photos here at DA.C. The model is a work of art!

Thanks for posting the pic Gray Trees. You really caught the "Panagra Yellow" perfectly.
Also Propjet Electra and Fleiger:
I'm also sharing your opinions.
These amazing 1:200's have got my attention as the scale Im investing most of $ into. Of course, Ill pick up the occassional 1:400, but these are benchmark airplanes. I hope the prices stay reasonable and new moulds become available soon.
My wish: A B2707-200 swing wing or -300 fixed wing (of course).
