Hei B-huj ... great one !
Since you're in a photographic mood ... can you make some close separate shots of the China Airlines A340, DC9-50(?) and MD80(?). Where did you found those rear jets models ??? I'll post mine as soon my new Delta Premium 737 land on my shelf ! :-P Ethan. |

Ethan,
here go the "upclose" shots you requested. CI A340-300 these shots are not GREAT because of the compression...and the poor hardware, sorry! The "rare jets" are Hasegawa plastic kits, assembled by myself. Pics later. |

I'd put up a picture of my 1/200s if I had a digital camera. I have a sizable collection of Hogan Wings- I was into 1/200s long before 1/400 diecasts, and I still collect 1/200s. I also have a lot old Woosters and Flight Miniatures hanging around, but they don't count because their quality is virtually nil compared to Hogan or Herpa NPs. They were all that was on the market years ago, though.
B-huj, is that an American MD-80 in the lower right corner of your collection? Who makes that one? I've never seen it before. |

For Ethan and NYCAAer,
those two MD's are, as I said, Hasegawa plastic kits I built some time ago, here is the link to the original thread: First http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...threadid=18718 both completed http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...threadid=23937 one shot of the pair the silver one I repeat I don't have tools to work on the planes, so it is basically a hands-and-brush (+spraycan)...I am really a beginner in kit assembly. I like the Cathay Pacific Hogans. The retailers I know of in the States who carry Hogans, the Airplane Shop in New Jersey and the Airplane Superstore in D.C., don't have the Cathay models. Those must be rare, because Cathay is really picky about its licensing. Where did you find the Cathay models?

Here goes a tailor-made reply for you: CX sells its licensed products through CXitement shops in major ports, but mainly throught their website shop.cathaypacific.com B747-400 1/200 http://www.cathaypacific.com/intl/pr...-4-285,00.html A330-300 1/200 http://www.cathaypacific.com/intl/pr...-4-286,00.html A340-300 1/200 http://www.cathaypacific.com/intl/pr...-4-314,00.html These are all "herpa NP" quality, but Cathay dubs them "premium" because they used to carry a range of cheesy "risesoon-type" snap fits. PS. I got mine directly from CX headquarters in Hong Kong

By the way, how do you pack models like the hasegawa's? (do you make custom boxes or something? I have glued undercarriage to some Hogan's and I doubt they fit inside their original boxes. |

Hi B-huj ...
tha'ts the way I follow. Let's take for example my latest box for the Fedex A300 . I take a boots carton box enough big to contain the model ... Then I take the model : there are 4 important points to fix the model ... rear fuse ... front fuse and each wing. I prepare some "U" pieces of polistyrole to fit the two points of the fuse about 4-5 cm long. Then I connect them and fix with some tape. When all parts are attached I cut a solid foam using the model as outline .(very cheep since not used for long term storage). Then placing it into a box. It seems a long way ... but it is not. All is done in 10 min ... :P Hope this help you. Ethan. |
