Default Material of Herpa Premium

I was once told that Herpa 1:200 Premium were made mostly of metal by a shop owner. However, a fellow collector told me that it was made of plastic and that there would be a possibility of parts of the planes turning yellow.

Can anyone who has a premium model advise me on the material of the fusage of the model. Thanks.

Default Plastic

There are few metal parts, some used in the landing gear, perhaps the engine turbine components.

You have a record of at least 200 posts here....Didn't you see all the sweat and tears of fellow collectors trying to keep their premiums as white as they first saw them?

type "permium" or "yellowing" and get into the story of the controversial yet sought after plastic models.

To my opinion, despite yellowing on certain models, they have some unique features in 1/200 airliners.

the fuselage is completely plastic, with some metal folding, esp engines and wheels.
there is definitely some metal inside (for increasing weight), but most visible parts are plastic.
Doctor Edmund Carus can provide some information on the type of plastic...also searchable under this forum.

Herpa should have painted Premium fuselage with white paint instead of bare white plastic exposed. This way the white paint acts as a layer of protcvtion against UV and even if the plastic turns yellow, it is still covered by a layer of white paint.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Your views have helped me decided whether I should get the model.
