i have been on this project for a while, but nothing can be achieved:
1)not enough space to waste, sorry, "to spare". 2)there are no bloody GSE's in that scale 3)buildings have to be quite good or they will look silly in such a big scale. I have quite some 1/200 airliners and would love to build a decent diorama (only a section of the airport would be enough) to display them. I have always had some architectural models in mind, but I have no experience in building wood and plastic terminals...There was this guy from the Philippines who built a 1/400 terminal with all the exterior and interior details (lights, furniture, people) of the building. He had studied architecture, I recall. I have lost his photos. The most important problem is the lack of 1/200 vehicles...railway modelling can provide 1/160 or 1/150, even 1/220, but that is the closest you get. I also remember a discussion about buses and cars on 1/160 (N-gauge). Well, so far, I have not heard of any achievements in 1/200 airport modelling. If anyone has an ongoing project I believe we would all love to see their work. |

The American Airlines terminal at JFK has a 1/200 airport diorama of the AA terminal that is due to be completed in 2007. No GSE, but there are a couple dozen Flight Miniatures/Long Prosper AA 757s, 767s & 777s at the terminal. Needless to say, it is huge, & would be insane to have at home. It's larger than a king-size bed.

here is a link: http://users.bigpond.net.au/miller_s...els_index.html I remember visiting this site and wondering where those GSE came from. I later found they were PCCHolland and a little off scale, but now almost impossible to find in any shop. By the way, I found these on Wings900, the author is a guy named Jao and comes from the Phillipines. Amazing 1/400 airport!
