IF744MAS01 B747-400 Malaysian 9M-MPP - Malaysia Airlines recently painted a B747-400 in the Retro Livery but with One World logo and no Jawi lettering.

These are very nice models and I look forward to receiving them.

On a side note:

Sadly the real aircraft was sold to Indonesia and left from KUL for Jakarta on 28/6/16....

MPP retro never flew a commercial or charter service.

A total waste of money. Word on the street in Malaysia is that this was the last draw for Chris Muller.

That's correct. Originally the idea was to temporary replace the A380 on the London routes, due to A380 maintenance/mods. The seats were actually open for bookings but later canned, around early May.

It's a shame and a terrible waste of money for Malaysia airlines.

Cool Re: IF200 B747 Malaysia Retro Livery

This reminds me at the story of the B747-400 of CHINA AIRLINES which was completely ready painted with large "TAIWAN" letters but never went into service (I think I remember that it even never went out of the paint hanger ).

Nevertheless DRAGON made a nice 1:400 model of it which comes together with a DVD of Taiwan (I must have both somewhere... ).

I'm curious as to how MAS ordered those 2 RR powered 747-200's. Were they originally destined for BA and not taken up?

These are both very nice models. The 747-4 retro is quite interesting subject if it never flew a revenue service for MH. What a shame and indeed a waste of money in repainting to retro. A tumultuous two years of MH trying to survive after the loss of two 777's continues to show their in survival mode big time. I hope they make it. The 747-400 retro could be a rare model of the future and it's not a fantasy model either.Well done Raymond for commissioning these two models. Are you still committed to your MH 737-800 oneworld Raymond?

Thanks Raymond for clarifying that these are Infight200 releases and not yours. Are you still doing the MH 737-800 oneworld?
Thank you

That pretty summed it up quite well I think
MH was then in one of her cyclical 'grow quickly' phase, and as things were back then in those days, delivery schedules for new frames then were no where near flexible. So, MH went ahead and took up the (still born) BA birds nevertheless, albeit with British/Malaysian relations at rock bottom status during that period of time. And it must be said those two 742s were worked relentlessly until the end, which is more than can be said for 9M-MPP

If I am to nit-pick, I will note the RR logos are absent from 9M-MHI's engines
Will be delighted if someone can show me otherwise
