Well, to celebrate summer 2016 in Canada; I would like to give away some more diecast models (1/500, 1/400 and 1/200). Yeah, you read that right! My way to inject more FUN on the DAC = give away some pristine/mint models to the esteemed gentlemen on the DAC. Yep, you've seen my other 2 quiz threads and I do come through with what I state/post. But, before I can do that I must gauge the interest for this proposed contest.

Well, that would have to depend on where you land in the prize allocation. 1st place = 1/200 bird, 2nd place = 1/400 bird, and 3rd place = 1/500 bird.

I think that allocation is fair.

Looks like we have 4 collectors so far who don't want to have any FUN on the DAC on receiving a free diecast model; I find that quite odd? But, that's why a poll is being conducted to enlighten the DAC collectorate on where this Forum stands on having some challenging contests and to really see how sharp are your model collector eyes? Yeah, it might be too much/frighten off the very few DAC collectors that a contest never before conducted on the DAC may pose too much of a challenge.

However, this 1/400 contest was a breeze for 2 DAC collectors:

A DAC collector in Calgary will be receiving their 1/400 model next week.

And the other MASTER 1/400 collector in Auckland will be receiving his 1/400 model in about 1-2 weeks. That model has to go through many, many time zones to land in his impressive display. By the way, this collector poses a real challenge for me, due to his extensive 1/400 collection = I think he has almost every bloody airline/model released! Thumbs Up I say to him!

A collector in Doha, Qatar happily received his 1st place 1/400 model.

The 2nd place collector was also another very happy camper with his 1/400 model.


The common theme for the above 4 winners = They had FUN and it was something innovative on the DAC. Yes, you read that right = FUN! !

Simplify your rules and don't change them mid-quiz.
I read the last quiz thread and lost interest with the constant moving targets - that's called creating confusion and unnecessary effort - that's the fun killer.

Here's a teaser; if this Contest/Quiz were to push through:

All quiz pics will be related to only the 1/200 models (1 piece construction, no snap-fits). You will have to guess the Airlines/Airframe of the 1/200 model. I won't provide any freebies like I did in the 1/400 contest = I slipped up and provided a Reg. # in the pic! ! You will not have to provide the model manufacturer.

What moving targets do you speak of? I have to use some lessons learned from the other quiz. So, how about you provide some feedback on what you would like to see in the quiz? I am always open to suggestions.

Proposed rules:

1. State the 1/200 model = Airline and Airframe for the picture number.
(for example: Pic 1 = KLM B747-400)

2. You can post as many guesses as you like, meaning you can keep guessing until you get them ALL right or before some other DAC collector get's them all right.

3. Once a DAC collector has submitted all correct answers. The quiz will cease/stop and the 2nd and 3rd place winners will be based on number of correct they have submitted at that time of stoppage.
(for example: QFA388 got them all correct, ukjohna had 2 wrong, and TheFSXpilot had 4 wrong.

first place = QFA388, 2nd place = ukjohna, and 3rd place =TheFSXpilot.

I think that should be pretty straight forward and simple to follow?

I read both quiz threads and lost interest. Refine once not keep making them a moving feast every time you realize that there's another way of doing something - that's my suggestion, however, from previous I concluded it's all too hard for the reward.

Or I can bring summer in with a BIG BANG and just give out 3 1/200 diecast models! For 1st, 2nd and 3rd place! ! How would you like that? All I need is one DAC collector to say = Hell Yeah! And I will do it! Cheers! T7 (the 1/400 and 1/500 models can go to 5th and 6th place winners!) What do ya say? It's friggin cold here for end of April, and I am scheduled to play golf on friday with my foursome after work! Yep, poor me! !

Interesting and great feedback. I agree that the airline quiz was a bit difficult, and I am still blown away how that collector in DOHA, got them all right? But, I salute him for shocking me!

The 1/400 model quiz was I thought pretty straight forward, Richard was able to snag all 10 correctly, with the minor detail = -100 instead of -200. So, in effect he really got 9.5 out of 10. But, my hat off to him as well! He knows his 1/400 models pretty darn good! That's why I refer to him as a MASTER 1/400 collector!

Great NEWS! My wife just yelled at me to go to bed, I have to be in the office bright and early to make it to my tee time. She also told me that more of my 1/200 models have to depart! With that being said:

1. Poll is now officially closed: 5 to 4 = Yeah's have 'won'! And want to have some 'fun'! !

2. 3 1/200 models (selected by me) will be distributed amongst the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners! Wifey is happy to see that I will be giving away 3 1/200 models.

3. 4th place = 1/400 model

4. 5th place = 1/500 model
