Just like to point out one more thing... which I am surprised that no one has pointed out yet...

JFOX did not made the light green patterns on the fuselage which is present on the real aircraft... but JC printed all the light green patterns.

JFOX :

JC:

Real aircraft:

Also, if you make detailed comparison of the colors...you will notice that JFOX has got many colors inaccurate.

Actually the difference is very obvious. I am surprised nobody pointed out yet...

I got both SPL and SPK of the JC version which is far more accurate in terms of many aspects.

This is what I was saying about with Mr.Charlie Alpha...why do this here?! Again?
This topic is for the collectors that have one or the other Tropical model, so why have you to come here and start saying again what you think, Mr.Ego?!
Go to other posts where the discussion was going on, or start your own ...here you just have to say what models you have, thats all!!!
Its very frustrating. You look like a bad manered kid.at least you act like one.

He's someone at GJ's alter ego, so there is an agenda.

Add myself to JC Wings SPK and SPL, and JFOX's SPL.

BlueBox (JCW) -SPK for me.

The correct engines and nose were the deciding points for me. That and the more accurate livery, plus removable gear.

Interesting thread - most people that bought just one chose SPK too.

I just wonder where are people displaying 2 of them. I have no room for one!

I purchased my first SQ tropical a Flight Miniatures back in 2000 I think, and I thought it was simply stunning when I purchased it USD 60.00 plus postage. Even the smell of fresh paint when I opened it. This hobby is just evolving just quite nicely and those of you too young to remember back 15 years ago, this was your only choice in of this beautiful bird in 1:200 back then. So be happy that this hobby is getting better all the time and enjoy your freedom of choice

I am glad that a vast majority of collectors are wise enough to get the JC version. Don't believe in what I say. Go and grap both models on your hands. Touch them, take a closer look at them. You will notice that the JC one is really far more outstanding in terms of many aspects.

Which one is more popular? Again, don't believe in what people say. Being sold out in how many hours in which retailer does not mean anything. Check the transaction prices on ebay and you will get the answer.

I am going with 9V-SPK BlueBox/JCWings version. Hasn't arrived in the US yet....still a few weeks away.

Reason: Wanted to go with the new mould / correct engines.

I like the Inflight mould too, but the mould is old and figured it was time for an updated one. Might as well take the plunge as JC Wings will be pushing out alot of 747's to go with it.

I had a Risesoon version, purchased it back in 2000, sold all of my plastic snap fit models around 2005. But the Risesoon version was simply stunning! It was my first 747 in 1/200 scale. All others before that were Wooster 1/250 747's.

Although I haven't received mine yet I went with the JC Wings version. I ordered one of each SPK and SPL.

This is by far my all time favorite livery so I had to get one of each registration.

So. I'll add these two to the two Risesoon examples I already have. So you can put me down for having both SPL and SPK from Risesoon and from JC Wings.

I'm amazed at how many people went for the JC Wings over the JFox. I thought it would be more 50/50 split.

I ordered both JC Wings and this is how 9V-SPL arrived. Sent an email with picture attached and they said they will post out the missing part and offered me a $10.00 refund in which I declined.I gather they don't inspect the model before they send it.

I think all of the comparison threads, no matter how antagonistic, did influence people's buying decision. And I think that is EXACTLY what they are supposed to do. Help us make more informed decisions and buy better models.

Personally, I think it signals most people are ready for a change, and the same dated mold and wrong engines just doesn't cut it anymore. I think these results tend to back that up.

i asked this before and asking again. i am lost, cant decide. thought market is being flooded everyday with nice models so there is a no chance for ''sell out' + not sure how does it look like actually (seems too 'busy' a livery). still undecided.............

Therefore I recommend people (especially less experienced collectors) really go and check the models on their hands before making decisions to buy.

In my opinion, when choosing a model or particular mould similar to the case where the SQ has been produced by both BBOX (JC) and JFOX (InFlight) I think an overall comparison is key. The newer BBOX / JC mould may have some slight discrepancies with accuracy around the nose area, but the InFlight mould has one major and inaccurate representation of actual aircraft. That is of course InFlight's attempted representation of the wing route (join).

It’s for the above lack of detail I have decided to order both BBOX versions.

That’s my 2c worth!

Hi Robert:
I posted here before(#81 of this thread)

http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...al-9v-spl.html

You may NEVER get the JCW version from ARD, I can expect will be the same for "Hibiscus", this is just a business measure.

ARD is 50% owner of IF/JFox, I think some members know who own the other 50% for sure.

If I am the boss of JCW, I will look for another distributor for UK market.
I respected ARD as a sponser of this forum and really don't want to tell the truth here. May be peer pressure can make the change?

WOW! now that is interesting!! well if they do not stock the JC duplicates, they risk upsetting some of their customers and risk losing a lot of business!! there is only really AIRSPOTTERS as a MAIN alternative. I know Malcolm personally and he does run a really good business. but obviously cannot compete on the buying power of ARD.

You guys should understand why I challenged Rui's monthly "ARD Visit". JCW have the minimum number of photos among all manufacturers. They are major competitor with each other. I don't think ARD will agree to increase the exposure of JCW products.

BBOX SPK

Correct engines! I do like the magnetic gear. The (normaly) glued ones often need some adjustment which is almost impossible without breaking anything. My Tropical's front gear didn't touch the ground. So I just took off the main gear, cut out some thin plastic sheets (blister package) that matched the empty holes and mounted the gear again. The magnets still work fine. Now the model sits perfectly. If the sheets had been to thick or thin I could have done it over and over again.

I just ordered SPK and SPL from Aviationmegastore in Amsterdam as Airspotters in UK have run out of SPKs and I would rather consolodate my order. I don't want the risk of import charges so that cancels out direct from JC in HK via ebay. As Robert says, ARD do risk annoying some of their customers, I would rather have found out way before today that they didn't have the intention to stock the JCW birds...just glad I have secured them, could have missed the boat altogether and then I really would have been p***ed!

well they still MAY get them andy. I will take a chance on them getting some. this is NOT a must have model. and NOT paying £130+ to get one somewhere else. I have emailed Malcolm @ airspotters to see if they are getting anymore. he always says when a model sells out on pre-order there is always one or two minimum fail to pay/cancel when models actually arrive!!

Thats fair enough mate, tho my total spend ended up being £122 per bird including shipping, which is what airspotters was charging anyway, ok so I may miss out with the discount rate with my ARD membership, but I just dind't want to risk it, especially if they are 'unsure' whether they will get them in or not at ARD. These were high on my target list as soon as they were announced and I look forward to sitting them next to my other 2 SQ 744s and taking a few pictures! I shall just have to suck it up if they appear now for a lot less at ARD, some other collector gets a good deal such as yourself, so its all good, I admire your patience and faith?!
