Great Cold War era models. Have heard on the Military Channel that the Bear was nearly intollerably loud for its crews, and terribly uncomfortable. Like Russian submarines from that era, the life for crew members was challenging to say the least. Thanks for sharing your great build.

Thanks for the comments guys, can't beat these noisy beasts, even the Tornado pilots complained that they were far too loud to intercept!

Not this time I'm affraid, Mr Samuels requested this one, I do already have 2 Bears, so it might be a bit greedy of me!

Actually... an RAF Leuchars 'Fighting Cocks' Phantom would look really good alongside that !

Good job on building a great model. Would be interesting to see how Herpa's model turns out.

That would certainly be a centerpiece of my collection, a very fine piece of work, Istari! Are these scratch-builds, or are you kit-customizing? What does a typical commission cost, anyway?

My models are built from various castings, when/how/where I can source them. So sometimes I will use a gemini moulds, sometimes I will buy something from Helmet 1:200, sometimes I will try and find something from HBM/MPM/Wiking/Dinky etc. Most of the time it's to fuel my own collection, but people sometimes ask me to make them one too as I guess they like what they see, or maybe I'm just the only one doing it!

This is the Western TU-95 casting. Many (if not all) models have custom decals that I print, and many have scratch built additions (sometimes gear, gear doors, antenna, pitots etc). If your interested check out my website in my signature.

I try to keep things cheap, as these are all done in my spare time, but I mainly do it for the fun of model making. There not always perfect, but I hope people get some enjoyment out of them.

Here's a little Anson I made for a really nice old guy who is ex-RAF, it was one of the first aircraft he went in and wanted the custom serial etc.

I hope we get a Bear Foxtrot or Hotel. Longer nose and a bigger look-down search radar i believe.
