Default TWO SKY CLASSICS TRIDENT 1's

Hi Guy's, Picked up these two models this morning, after waiting some time
for ARD to get some restocks in, both made by Sky Classics & are both TRIDENT 1's the first one is in the RED square livery of BEA G-ARPU, the second one is a CHANNEL AIRWAYS version G-AVYB in the old Continental livery, witch I believe they had permission to use after continental changed there's, not every body like's Sky Classics or how they have made these Trident model's, and they are expensive, personally I can not see the other company's making these in the near future, I hope I am wrong, but at least these fill the gap for now.

I wish somebody had sent them the plans from Hatfield. If we can get a cracking little red square One Eleven, why not a Trident.

The Channel Airways is quite nice but the BEA has dreadful window/cheatline placement. If they got it right on one why wouldn't they get it right on the other? Compare pax window placement between the two models - they're in two entirely different places. Somebody just neglected to pay attention to what they were doing.

Absolutely. Leaving aside the shape of the mould, which has been discussed enough I think, the other problem is that the new Sky Classics quality is very off. I've bought BEA versions of their range and they have all had to go back to ARD because of terrible QC (e.g. window lines not on straight, decals already peeling off, poor paint touch ups to try and cover obvious manufacturing/painting blemishes, etc, etc). Personally, I can't justify paying what they're asking for that kind of quality.

Having said that, the Channel Airways one here does indeed look good.

My respect to the OP for this thread but I find these products amateurish (particularly in ref to QC) and outdated and the more they are purchased the more other concerns will think no need to do a Trident. There is no subtlety at all in these moulds they are lumpen and heavy, the work of a poor eye. We are not talking about minor details but the whole concept. The Channel is no better than the BEA.

Two great liveries there. Channel Airways used to live at my local airport, Stansted. Once or twice a year, Channel used to hold 'open days' there, whereby one, or sometimes two of their airliners would be open to the public to 'walk through'. I was only a small child at the time, but I can well remember the summer, when they had a BAC1-11, and a Trident alongside one another. It was amazing to be able to see the flight decks of them. That was the first time that I had ever seen the inside of an airliner. It used to be the equivelant of around 10p entry fee, and I believe that the takings were passed to the local hospital charity.

I totally agree, but I doubt there's enough profit potential for someone to do this mold properly. That's probably the same reason we can't get CV-880/990 molds and a host of others that we'd love to get our hands on. Let's see... B707 turbojet, 720, DC-8-10/20/30/50/61/71, Caravelle with United livery, etc... More retro jets would be great but I'm afraid we won't see them.

Great story! I have a brief story that is off topic so please bear with me. In the late 1960's my cousin was employed by Northeast Airlines, Boston, USA. While driving to the mountains in New Hamphire, we stopped at the airport in Manchester, NH, a Northeast Airlines destination. We stopped, inspected and went inside one of the last three Northeast DC-3's that were sold to the United States Navy. We had complete access except into the cockpit, although we could see everything. Even as a 12 year old, I was greatly impressed. Your comment triggered the event in my mind. Thanks!

Happy days! It must have been great to see a DC3 in those circumstances.

Yes it was great and I did not have another opportunity. Every year I visited my relatives in MA. and NH. usually flying on the Eastern Shuttle or on Northeast. DC-9's or B-727's were the order of the day. Sadly I never got to ride the Electra but did fly the Shuttle in the early 1960's on a 1049 Constellation when Eastern used their hanger at Laguardia as their Shuttle terminal. I recall we flew over Shea Stadium while under construction. Great times!
