Question Hobby Master

how can a company, which has made so many great military models, create such a crap like their current A310
or their full-of-errors MD-11 mould?!

i don't get that into my mind...

compared to the military range of models even their DC-whatever airliner models are substandard.
...maybe they should start a 1/72 airliner range to get them more accurate.

I couldn't agree more. I have several of their 1/48 scale WWII fighters. They are accurate and beautifully detailed models that rival anything else on the market.

Hobby Master must use a different factory(s) for their military stuff. The difference is staggering.

This has been discussed loads both on here and the other forum. I guess it keeps coming up because individuals are so staggeringly disappointed when they get their mitts on an actual A310 or MD-11? But to cut to the chase, yes, HM need to put the same resource and commitment in to their civil jet line as they do to their military stuff. If they did then they might hoipe to actually be able to compete with Gemini, JC et al. The civil jet model game has moved on - and HM need either to radically up theirs or throw in the towel. It really is that simple.

Totally agree.

As much as I applaud HM's efforts to bring us retro subjects that others don't seem to want to touch, I do find HM's execution to be one step up from Corgi's 1:144 Propliner range. Not that there was anything really all that horrible about Corgi's efforts -- I mean, they were what they were -- it's just they weren't anywhere as refined in execution as say, Gemini, who I would consider industry leader (faults and all).

HM really needs to step up their game in the commercial aviation area or just politely bow out.

I thoroughly enjoy my Hobby Master DC-4s, although I can't understand why they can finish the American Airlines example in bare metal (making it look practically like the real thing) but can't do it with anything else. Manufacturers who demonstrate a little effort with metal polishing get extra points with me.

I really need to get my hands on some of those DC-7Cs - grand propliners are what I love most about our hobby.

The bad being the spinners.
Easy to correct, easy to change, but so far nothing has been done.
