Default Inflight 200 VC-25 Air Force One coming out next week???

Hey guys,

I just read Aviation Retail Direct's email and it said that Inflight 200 will be delivering the Air Force One VC-25 next week! Does anyone have any pictures of it yet? Thanks!

It's the first fully diecast Air Force One available in 1/200.

Same here! I've been waiting for a 200 scale die-cast version of this for years, easily the most excited I've ever been for a release. I hope it turned out as close to perfect as possible. Now, where are the pics?!?!?

I sure hope so, but would not wager too much on it happening.

Getting 28000. President Bush came to Redding 7-17-2008 to survey fire damage here in the North State. Seeing that 747 in the skies above was pretty impressive and I will never forget it. (Keep in mind that our local airport has three EMB120 departures/arrivals per day so this was a really big deal)

Upon closer examination to the 1:1, it does piss me off they screwed up the doors. How hard is that to get right? I am still happy to have one on order, but really? They spend months and months on this model, delay the release two to three months to add the stupid refueling hump, but mess up the doors. Will anyone ever pay attention to the details? If these idiots worked in corporate America they would be fired. Do collectors run quality control?

You know, it's been months of reading people's bitchy remarks and frankly, it's old and it's tired. Yes freedom of speech does exist in the world but seriously, we are talking about a model plane here. If you are that nit picking about the model, spend the money elsewhere and have one custom made to YOUR exact specifications!
Think about it, the model costs less than US$200.00, work it backways, how much do you think those poor little people in the factory make to put a model together for our pleasure, just so they can go home and feed their family?
Really and truly, life is too short to ***** and whine about the "doors". The fact is that the model is coming out, Inflight is doing their best to make us happy and personally, I am greatfull, maybe it's because I have a life and I dont swet the small stuff.
Doors are doors, get over it!

Well said and right on. Those who don't like this model are free to vote with their feet (and their dollars, Euros, yen, etc) and wait for someone else to come up with a better product.

But don't hold your breath.

I wasn't bothered about this, a long way from my collecting priorities but on seeing it it does look superb and I am very very tempted...

Aside from any historical significance and the tail numbers, is there a difference between the two versions Inflight is offering?

Okay, okay, so apparently some of you are quite upset about my criticism of this model. I thought that a forum's intention was just that kind of banter. That said, my "idiots" comment may have been out of line and for that I apologize, but while this model is otherwise excellent, in my opinion, the treatment of the doors on this aircraft is so different than typical passenger 747's, I wanted it correct; the criticism is a valid one. Ultimately, I am still excited to receive my copy of this bird and I am grateful. Comments assuming I am not, or that I need to "get a life," well they are out of line. Every collector will have their personal preferences regarding the items they collect and each should be respected. Constructive criticisms need not be responded to with such vehemence. I think we all just want to have fun. So again, my apologies as it was not my intention to upset anyone, simply to share a critique of this model. Good day to all.

Are there any photos of the undersides of the wings, specifically the rear of the engine pylons?

Good show old man!! I just noticed that this weekend too! Those pylons have something attached and the same item is located over the APU exhaust at the tail. My guess is either rear facing cameras, lasers or flares for defense purposes! I seriously doubt they would include those on the model as they are using the same mould, If it were a new mould they would have possibly included them and done the refuling point on the nose as a part of the unit and not an attachment. All in all I am pleased with the model and I think Inflight needs to know that this. Now, can you imagine if Herpa Premium had done this model? It would be the hottest collectors item out there!

Not sure how the VC-25As are currently configured, but the older VC-137Bs (707s) had infrared jammers mounted on the trailing edges of the engine pylons. Purpose was to blind/jam the seekers on IR missiles (SA-7, etc).
