Re: Trying to get one of everything, recommendations wanted!
To the best of my knowledge, there is no real Herpa PANAM B 747-100.
The one I have is something between a -100 and a -400, with a wing to fuselage fairing ahead of the leading edge, typical of the -400.
This must be known.

Re: Trying to get one of everything, recommendations wanted!
,,,,,, that is some big list ..... if you are seeking B747s in all the main variants what about the other variants of the likes of the A330, A340, B757, B767, B777 etc....?
Ive done a similar thing to you here with 1:200s but Ive restricted myself to just Boeing and Airbus with all variants in house colours only...... the ones not manufactered (a few) I will have to get made/customised .....

Re: Trying to get one of everything, recommendations wanted!
Well the 747 is my fave plane and I want to see how it has change over the years by getting them all. As for others It doesn't matter which variant it is as long as I like it!

Yes it's a shame that they made it like that, are there any other 747-100 true to the original at a reasonable price ie £30-£40. I do love my pan am 747 though.

Just to give an example.
I've been very disappointed with the inaccurate and very expensive Inflight/Socatec Air France B 747 that I didn't buy, so I managed to get the very cheap Flight Miniatures version.
It has no langing gear, but I recently ordered a Hogan landing gear set and I 'll have the pleasure to modify this beautifully finished very basic model, to make it as good as a Hogan model.
Liveries of Flight Miniatures models looks very good.
Good luck.
Jean Pierre.

Well for the 727 I sugest any made by Jet-X or try to get the newest PanAm 727 "Clippler Charmer" You wont get dissapointed with the mold.
If you like Hogan and the B747-300, the PIA is the option, they fixed the duck nose and now the B747 mould is great. The SP version I think you could still find the Qantas from Gemini Jets.
DC-9, you must get the september releases form Gemini, I think they made a couple of them including this babe:
MD-11, I recommend all Hogan models except the newest Lufthansa Cargo "100 years", the cockpit windshield is too high as well as the Herpa version.
The best MD-11 is the Eva Air Cargo, great model, excellent details. That must be a premium model. Recommended
IMHO
Greetings
PS: by the way, Phoenix made a new 787 Dreamliner House colors (both scales 1:200 and 1:400) and is the same that made the Dreamliner Tour early this year.

Actually its not just the cockpit that's too high, the front exit doors are a little too low as well giving that impression.

Well, not at all Moin. For me the doors look correct. Check this comparison, maybe is the shape of the nose and the windshield with this weird look.
Forget the mugs, jars and glasses behind. In the right is the Herpa and Hogan in the leftside.
