I'd really love one of these, but there's no way I could justify the £70 asking price for a DC3.

Available for 70USD on airline site, anyway still much more than "average" DC-3 in this scale..

That model is a beauty! The engine and wing detail in particular is superb. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure Buffalo Airways has decided they want to be the only one you can buy this model from, so there isn't really anyone for them to compete with price wise.

Cool Re: Buffalo Airways DC-3 by Gemini200

That is one sweet Gemini DC-3, alright. Given how well this Buffalo Airways one is executed, I'd say it is easily a $70 (Cdn) model. Mr. Dash7's great photo exposé confirms that.

Wow!! All that in there (especially the signed box) definitely makes that package worth $70.

Yes, this is a stellar rendition of this aircraft and am certainly happy with my purchase, however; you sir are a lucky man to have received these "extras", especially the sighed box. Perhaps because I am only Canadian...eh, that I did not, . BTW my model # was 228 of 400.

I received even more "gifts "inside - to include Hay River guide. Quite far away, but... Considering that YZF-Hay River is last regular (I suppose) pax svce operated by DC-3 - why not?

Cool Re: Buffalo Airways DC-3 by Gemini200

It appears that if one buys this model and it is shipped to an address outside of Canada, they get the 'royal treatment' with extra Buffalo Airways collectable ephemera.

Nice bonus with a superbly executed DC-3 from Gemini.

Yep Buffalo Airways will get my business again for the HM DC-4 as well. Aside from the fact that those guys have my support, I also was really surprised to see all the goodies when my DC-3 arrived, stickers, luggage tags, etc. Great customer service!

The mould of this DC 3 could be one of the best ever produced.
I can compare with Old Western Models, Herpa and Hogan.
The paint job looks excellent with a great attention to details.
A great model !
Lucky Canadians !

Unfortunately, shipping costs could be prohibitive for a European customer.

I have been sent these picture by Peter at Buffalo airways and allowed to use as teaser. We understand that these models will be out in November 2012 and available at select retailers due to the limited numbers produced. Lets hope they arrive on time as we have found interest to be very high indeed. Just clearing a space now ready for my model.

I think their C-46 is looking a little left out. Me thinks it is time for someone to step up (anyone but HM) and tool this aircraft in 1:200, as it would sell like wildfire. Are the Gemini guys here, 'cause I'm looking at you.

Note the old Lufthansa logo left on under the flight deck windscreen.

Buffalo's C-FAVO (c/n 33242) was N9891Z in a previous life and was leased from Capitol by Lufthansa from 1964 to 1969 for European cargo feeder service.

A 1/200 Buffalo C-46 would be nice. The original Western Models did do the C-46 and coincidently it was N9891Z in Lufthansa colours with either a white or silver top. Martin at Small World has subsequently done a few more C-46s.

Great news regarding the second DC-3 and the forthcoming HM DC-4. As for a Canso, how about the Herpa Newfoundland model. Buffalo did acquire these and flew them with just their titles added.

Thanx for the insight. I'm sure there are quite a few here who were unaware of this aircraft's history.

I remember that one. They released a silver and a white top. Your choice. Pity no one else (Herpa or Gemini) has taken up the C-46 Commando, as there is NO shortage of liveries. While I applaud the efforts of Martin, I think his efforts are a bit out of reach for most of us here (myself included).

Hey mate, not overly concerned. Bit of a bummer more than anything, not something to get my knickers in a knot over. To be honest the only thing that really annoyed me is being given all this **** not even related to buffalo airways. I don't want a super 8 brochure, or a yellowknife dvd. Maybe they can wow me with the DC-4 lol.

I too got my DC-3 direct from Buffalo in Canada (072/400) it came with some "goodies" but no autographs on box. Like spud not too bothered as was more than happy with the model's finish. However, I did notice a few popped on eBay with these autographs. It would appear, a batch were ordered by "someone" which had autographs and were then re-sold.

Looking forward to the second Dak and that DC-4.

I was given the choice by Mikey, autographs on Box or Postcard, opted for postcard.
