HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
Hi Guys,
I mean this in the kindest way, but......
I don't mean to criticize, and if this is the way you want to display your model please feel free, but many of the pics of the HobbyMaster Stratocruiser that I see on this site have the nose gear put in backwards.
The Stratocruiser's nose gear has the gear door in the front, not the rear. This gives the model the distinctive 'gear forward' look of the prototype.
First pic, is of coarse, courtesy of Airliners.net.

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
Thanks Charlie! Just fixed mine. Hey that PAA is really beautiful!
Darn, just checked must be sold out everywhere! (Not even on Ebay) I think HM did a great job on the B377's, I only have the one.
I've got the Corgi 1:144 B377 in the Pan Am livery it's still in the box though for some reason. (Lack of shelf space?)!!
Just noticed the HM B377 United looks pretty good though! Hmmm, must wait a month though spending too much dinero!!
Hey Charlie that's why I'm not too picky about the antenna's though can't even tell if the front gear is on right!! Hey when I get modern jets I
usually go to airliners.net and check pics if I have to put the gear in!!

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
The Stratocruisers are one of HobbyMaster's best models IMHO, and I particularly like the Pan American. This is also the only Stratocruiser that I own, but maybe not the last. I agree, the United does look very nice. I also like your Northwest. I almost bought that one too.
Airliners.net is a great resource for this hobby. I also use it frequently my self. That is why I went there for the pic of the Strat.

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
Charlie, here's my Corgi. I know these Corgi's aren't for everyone but I like them (kind of toy like). Just posting this so u can see it I know it's not 1:200 but 1:144.
Put it back in the box! I have a Corgi Constellation Pan Am that I play with alot it's out of the box. Oops did I say play with didn't mean that!

I bet it does look nice. The Northwest is a great model too.
I also like the Corgi! Their Strat looks nice too. It conveys some of the bulk of the 1:1. I have a Britania and a VC-10. Like you said, not 1/200, but nice models anyway.

Agreed, that Northwest Strat looks pretty darn sharp, alright. I'll go as far as to say 'credit where credit due' and say HM did a bang up job with the entire Stratocruiser line of theirs. Best model of their range.

Ahhhh . . . the Corgi Propliner range in 1:144. I have a number of Bristol Britannias in this range that I like (and cherish). Corgi just got the small details 'right'. I also have a BOAC and Pan Am Strat . . . most interesting.

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
Not 1/200 as has been said, but I too like the Corgis. I have many Britannias, Strats, Connies and Viscounts, oops, musn't forget the DC3. Favourite Corgi? For me it has to be the BOAC 707. I bet that the VC10 is something to behold

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
Since we are on the topic, thought I would post a few pics.
The VC-10 is a stunning model, and it is BIG in 1/144 scale. I also have the Aviation200 VC-10 in the same livery. I'm actually thinking of selling this model since the Aviation200 version came out. I don't have the space to display it.
Well, here are my 2 Corgi BOACs.

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
Oh wow, that Corgi VC10 is gorgeous! I was always hoping that they would do it in the later 'golden speedbird' livery. Is it so, that the Corgi 10 is no longer produced?

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
A lovely model Robert. Just imagine it done in the later scheme, like their 707. The last one of these BOAC VC10s that I saw on eBay, went for around £150. Wonder what my BOAC 707 would fetch these days?

Those are lovely! You now need the the BOAC Britannia 100 (that was polished) and the BOAC Stratocruiser for a complete set.
When I think about it, I'm only one VC10 away from that set myself.

For sure, no more made. Corgi has stopped their 1:144 propliner/jetliner range some time back. Pity, as I liked a lot of that stuff and the intentionally naïve looking house-style.

Re: HobbyMaster Stratocruiser nose gear
I agree with you. To me, they were what they were, and made no pretentious to being the nadir of die cast airliners. One of my favourites of theirs, is the British United Britannia srs 300, my Laker srs 100 is pretty cool too.
